No debate in the presidential debates

About those scripted presidential debates

Is there anyone out there who is actually anticipating the presidential debates? I am at a loss to find more than a handful of people who even express any interest in the upcoming election. In fact, I ran an in house poll asking people to answer this question, which at this point, 315 people have responded to.

Will you vote in the presidential election?

* Yes, I always vote! 10.48 % (33 votes)

* No, I can’t support any of these candidates. 33.33% (105 votes)

* Yes, I always vote to support my party. 2.54% (8 votes)

* No, I won’t support either of these partys. 37.48 % (118 votes)

* What’s the point? An illegal will probably vote using my identity. 10.16% (32 votes)

* Other 6.03% (19 votes)

I believe my poll is most likely more reflective of the common mind-set. I didn’t ask skewed questions. I didn’t ask only those who are registered in my party (because I don’t have a party affiliation). I just asked anyone who took the time to answer the poll the simple question posed above.

Dear Speaker Pelosi: About that “preserving the integrity of congress”, thing

Dear Speaker Pelosi:

About that “preserving the integrity of congress”, thing;  Please be advised that you cannot possibly preserve that which (congress, collectively) does not possess.

While I was stunned at Rep. Wilson’s outburst, I quickly realized what it was that shocked me.  It was his spontaneous honesty!  It was what he actually felt; what his true gut reaction was.  I can see why you feel the need to censure him; honesty cannot be tolerated in the golden halls of what was once the government of “We the people” and certainly not passionate outbursts especially from what is portrayed as your opposition.

While I claim no appreciation for either the left or the right wing of this aberration operating as what is supposed to be the people’s government, I have to admit to my admiration for Rep. Wilson.  After all, when have we last seen any representative or senator for that matter, actually showing any passion for any cause?  Unless of course, it has the word(s), “corporation(s)” attached to it.

I have spent a great deal of my time watching the day to day hearings, votes and the one minute speeches called “debates”, delivered to the CSPAN camera’s in a chamber empty of but few of our elected officials and many times, none at all.

I have watched and listened in disbelief as massive amounts of time are wasted asking for some notable so & so’s birthday to be recognized; congratulating each other on what fine and distinguished individuals their “friends across the isle”, are.

I have watched and listened as both factions of this true “one-party” system, have abused their majority ranking to:

  • Suspend rules to force votes;
  • To submit and pass massive legislation that none of you reads;
  • That all of you use to attach pork spending to non-related bills costing tax payers billions in what is nothing less than an attempt to buy votes at home;
  • That is in total opposition to the people you were elected to represent;
  • That is in direct conflict with our rights and liberties.
  • I have sat through committee hearings that were so obviously staged and slanted on various topics and issues, that it left me stunned and wondering at what point congress came to believe we were all so stupid we wouldn’t be able to perceive the deception taking place?

These things and many others equally egregious are done as routine; just business.  At every opportunity congress has shown us that we are not a consideration; we just pay the bills.

As congressional poll ratings are dangerously close to registering in the negative, you might stop to consider why the public holds congress in such low regard.  Of course there is always the possibility that I misinterpreted to whom you were directing this comment on preserving integrity.  I of course immediately believed you were addressing this to those who pay your salaries.  I have concluded you were addressing those who believe as you do that you are somehow above and beyond the common people: you were addressing your cohorts in congress.

Maybe a better line for you to adopt would be: “We must establish some integrity in congress” and move in that direction.

Just my thoughts; my humble opinion.

We’ve lost our collective minds

We are eight months or so away from the “08” election and I’m already sick of the whole mess.  The YouTube debates were worthless; the questions screened so thorougly that nothing of any consequence was asked.  The state by state primaries and caucuses are pointless because not one promise that is made, not one plan for the future will ever materialize by the eventual and pre-selected winner.

Questions that should have been asked (and probably were but cut out).

Not one question about the intent to merge the US, Canada and Mexico.

No one asked if the working groups would be abolished that are facilitating the Security & Prosperity Partnership and the construction of the NAFTA highway that will cut through the country.

No questions about the data mining being done by various intelligence agencies or the loss of any kind of personal privacy under the guise of “national security”.

No one asked why chemtrails are reported all over the country that result in high numbers of individuals appearing in emergency rooms with sudden respiratory ailments, or why the content of water in the affected area’s suddenly contains high levels of heavy metals, and other toxins.

No one brought up the use of depleted uranium on our troops, or indigenous populations that have resulted in multiple illnesses and a high level of birth deformities.  No one mentioned the fact that DU has a life span of 300,000 years and that where it is used the land is now contaminated.

REAL ID was carefully avoided.  The fact that Homeland Security is strictly prohibited in its charter from ever establishing a form of national ID was never mentioned.

Secure Flight, a program designed to accustom US citizens to the idea of having to “present their papers” in order to travel inside the US went unnoticed.

So many real questions that need answers were never allowed to be asked.  Which leaves me wondering just what is going to change with this election.  In all likelyhood…..nothing.

I can’t vote for Hillary because she is Bush with a brain…..making her a real danger to the country.

I can’t vote for McCain because he is promising another 100 years of war and a continuation of Bush policies. (I don’t think he is in his right mind anyway)

I can’t vote for Obama.  That is directly a result of his support for a UN based global tax and his intention to end the ownership of small arms and weapons.  Meaning he wants to get rid of the 2nd Amendment.  Even as a liberal, I can’t support that.

I can’t vote for Huckabee because I think if I hear one more fearless leader claiming that God is speaking to him directly, I will implode.

I would like to vote for Ron Paul, but the GOP will never let him on the ticket.

Wouldn’t you just one time, like to attend a debate where you could actually get up and ask the questions you really have?  Without being pre-screened or shut out?  Can you imagine how different this whole election cycle would be if just this once we were actually able to access the candidates with real questions?  It’s never going to happen.

We have lost our minds.  We have allowed ourselves to accept the controlled speeches, the lack of real questioning, the abscence of actual debate to substitute for substantive, informed dialogue.

Why anyone is excited or charged up about the coming election is beyond me.  Our election system is rife with voter fraud, corruption and vote tampering.  The winner has already been chosen, we just won’t know who it is until the “08” fraud is perpetrated.  The worst part of that is that there are those out there who will be jumping up and down thinking that they actually won something.
