The economy is so bad the Mafia has started laying off judges

Quote of the Day: “The economy is so bad the Mafia has started laying off judges.” — anonymous Internet joke

Subject: The myth of good intentions

A bill with a nice-sounding title, such as the “Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA),” passes Congress. Later, when its defects come to light, even the law’s victims assume that the bill had “good intentions,” but was “poorly written.” I saw this sentiment expressed often while reading blogs about the CPSIA.

But I think these assumptions about “good intentions” are a little naive. After all, if Congress really had “good intentions” they would have taken the time and care to write a better bill that wouldn’t have deprived poor children of second-hand winter coats. The fact that they didn’t tells me that . . .

Their motive was good publicity, not good intentions.

That’s why they rushed to pass a poorly-written law without reading it. As we’ve pointed out, had the “Read the Bills Act” (RTBA) been in force, Congress would have crafted a much better bill.

Yet members of Congress claim that RTBA is impractical, even though it could have prevented the destructive aspects of the CPSIA and the AIG bonus provision in the scam-stimulus bill, while still allowing them to pass as much as 8,000 pages of legislation each year.

The more Congress refuses to introduce, consider, or pass the RTBA, the less we can credit them for “good intentions.” We must tell our personal elected representatives that . . .

  • If they pass bills with secret provisions inserted at the last minute, they’re just as guilty as the person who snuck it in.
  • If they did not read a bill before voting for it, they are not motivated by good intentions.
  • They are morally responsible for the unintended consequences of the poorly-worded laws they pass.

From early February through March 26, both the House and the Senate passed over 3,500 pages of legislation they didn’t read. As taxpayers and law-abiding citizens, you and I are “on the hook” for Congress’s phony good intentions. Please use our Educate the Powerful system to ask your representatives to pass DownsizeDC.org’s “Read the Bills Act.”

Use your personal comments to object to the fact that they passed 3,500 pages of legislation over two months, without reading it. Tell them they’re the ones now on the hook:

  • If they vote for massive bills without reading them, we’ll remember.
  • If they continue to ignore our demands to introduce the “Read the Bills Act,” we’ll remember.

If you’ve used our Educate the Powerful System before, the best way to send your message, given our current technical difficulties, is to log-in using the log-in button at the top of our home page. http://www.downsizedc.org/

Then, click on the campaign button on the navigation strip at the top of the page, then click on the “Read the Bills” campaign button at the top of the left hand column. That will call-up the page for sending your message.

If you’re sending your first message to Congress, click on this link, fill out the simple registration form for first time users, and send your message.

Ask your friends to do the same by forwarding this message.

You can also spread the word by joining the Read the Bills Act Coalition. Details on adding your blog or website to the Coalition are found here.

This week we welcome five new members to the Coalition:

The Traitors Among Us

3 Comments

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not traitor, he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.” – Cicero, 42 B.C.

Checking into the considerable power and influence of Monsanto, I have uncovered the following list of representatives and senators who have been colluding with Monsanto and, thus, endangering our food supply – exactly the opposite of what these members of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees are supposed to be doing:

House Agriculture Committee members:

Brad Ellsworth, Indiana, who has accepted $2,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Jim Costa, California, who has accepted $500 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Leonard Boswell, Iowa, who has accepted $4,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Collin C. Peterson, Minnesota, the Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, who has accepted $3,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Sam Graves, Missouri, who has accepted $5,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Steve King, Iowa, who has accepted $4,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Blaine Luetkemeyer, Missouri, who has accepted $1,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Adrian Smith, Nebraska, who has accepted $1,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Senate Agriculture committee members:

Tom Harkin, Iowa, Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, who has accepted $6,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Saxby Chambliss, Georgia, who has accepted $14,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Patrick Leahy, Vermont, who has accepted $1,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Max Baucus, Montana, who has accepted $5,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Mitch McConnell, Kentucky, who has accepted $5,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Blanche Lincoln, Arkansas, who has accepted $3,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Pat Roberts, Kansas, who has accepted $3,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Mike Johanns, Nebraska, who has accepted $2,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Ben Nelson, Nebraska, who has accepted $1,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Bob Casey, Pennsylvania, who has accepted $500 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota, who has accepted $1,000 in campaign contributions from Monsanto.

For the relatively small sum of $186,250 Monsanto has bought and paid for nineteen representatives and senators who are supposed to be serving their constituents, not the interests of Monsanto.

For decades, now, we have been allowing criminals to exist in our Congress – men and women who have, beyond accepting bribes on a routine basis, also come and gone through the revolving door that connects big business to government, holding board member positions in large multinational corporations like Monsanto, as well as many others. We have allowed them to come and go from business and industry and government as they please, completely oblivious to the fact that this is illegal and unethical, to say the least.

Among these “revolving door” politicos have been Mike Taylor, former Deputy Commissioner for Policy at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 1991-1994, who happens to have been an attorney working for Monsanto’s law firm for seven years prior to his FDA post – a post that was created for him, allegedly to steer the rapid approvals of drugs and food products, such as those made from Monsanto’s bio-engineered grain products.

Former Governor of Iowa Tom Vilsack, who was selected as Secretary of Agriculture in December 2008, is a supporter of genetically modified crops, including those designed to produce pharmaceuticals.

California state Senator Dean Florez is the author of California SB1056, which prevents local governments from legislating against genetically modified crops. This bill has been dubbed “The Monsanto Bill.”

Donald Rumsfeld, former Secretary of Defense under the Bush administration, was previously the CEO of G.D. Searle, a subsidiary of Monsanto.

Former U.S. Trade Ambassador Mickey Kantor was on the board of directors of Monsanto.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was a Monsanto attorney prior to his appointment to the court by George H.W. Bush.

Linda Fischer, who held a key post at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was head of Monsanto’s lobbying office in Washington, D.C.

Michael Friedman, former Acting Commissioner of the FDA, was later Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs at G. D. Searle, subsidiary of Monsanto.

Marcia Hale, former Assistant to the President of the United States under Bill Clinton was later Director of International Government Affairs for Monsanto.

Josh King, former Director of Production for White House events, later served as Monsanto’s Director of Global Communications in Washington, D.C.

Margaret Miller, former Chemical Laboratory Supervisor at Monsanto, later became Deputy Director of Human Food Safety and Consultive Services of the New Animal Drug Evaluation Office, Center for Veterinary Medicine at the USDA.

William Ruckelshaus, former Chief Administrator of the EPA later served as a board member at Monsanto.

Needless to say, the interlocking web of money and deceit that ties our government to Monsanto and its interests is quite widespread.

Downsizer Dispatch: anti-NAIS campaign

Leave a comment

Quote of the Day: “Everything not specifically prohibited is mandatory.” — the fundamental principle of government

Subject: Our prediction comes true

The Congressional war against small business continues. The Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 (H.R. 875) will create a new food safety bureaucracy, and require a “traceability” program for “food production facilities and food establishments.”

These new regulations will drive many small farms and restaurants out of business. Big Business can afford the compliance costs and will benefit from the reduced competition as smaller firms go bankrupt. Consumers will face fewer choices and higher prices, but will we really get safer food in return, and will it really be worth the cost?

Congress would have to know a lot of things that probably can’t be known in order to evaluate this question, but they’re charging ahead anyway, re-engineering society on the backs of small business owners.

Part of the bill’s intent is to absorb already-existing food-tracking programs. Section 210 (d)(4) says the new food-tracking system must be “consistent with existing statutes and regulations that require record-keeping or labeling for identifying the origin or history of food or food animals,” including “the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) as authorized by the Animal Health Protection Act of 2002 (AHPA).”

The contention that NAIS was authorized by the AHPA is wrong. NAIS implementation has never been authorized by any Congressional legislation. It’s a bureaucratic initiative.

This false assumption gives NAIS the aura of Congressional approval. Instead . . .

This is another step on the road to converting NAIS from a “voluntary” program to a mandatory one. This is exactly what we predicted three years ago when we launched our anti-NAIS campaign.

H.R. 875 is a de facto “authorization” of NAIS. It makes the penalties laid out in the AHPA applicable to participants of NAIS. It also presumes that NAIS can be “required,” or made mandatory for all owners of livestock and poultry — even exotic pets.

Up until now Congress has largely ignored NAIS, but Rep. David Obey, who introduced the Omnibus Appropriations Act, included $14.5 million for additional NAIS funding and has specifically expressed his intent that the money will be used to implement NAIS aggressively according to the USDA’s September 2008 Business Plan (written by bureaucrats as well).

This plan includes:

  • Forcing cattle owners to use NAIS “840” RFID (radio frequency identification) tags when they participate in vaccination programs
  • Increasing compliance in the sheep and goat industries through new regulations and “increased emphasis on enforcement.”
  • Requiring premise registration for horse owners who must submit their horses for EIA testing
  • 98% compliance by July 2009 for poultry and swine
  • 90% compliance by July 2009 for horses, sheep, and goats
  • 60% compliance by Oct 2010 for cattle

These figures reflect the USDA’s goal of near-total control of every aspect of the livestock industry.

Such control isn’t possible without aggressive, heavy-handed means. There’s already enough opposition to NAIS to make those targets impossible. That means farmers that don’t comply will be run out of business.

Many who do comply will lose their businesses because of the compliance cost.

This issue is important right now because a hearing is scheduled on H.R. 875 on Wednesday, March 11. Please check the list in the P.S. to see if your Represenative serves on the committee, and if they do, please call them.

For the rest of you, we need to prepare the Congress to vote against H.R. 875 should it get out of committee. Use our simple Educate the Powerful System to . . .

  • Tell your Representative and Senators to strip NAIS from any pending legislation
  • Tell them to introduce legislation to abolish the program entirely

Washington, District of Criminals……your government at work

As a country, as citizens of our respective states, nothing poses a greater threat to our existence than the assembly of congressmen/women residing in both houses, some for decades.

For eight years we endured the arrogance, the outright fascist intents of the Bush Administration.  For six of those years we saw the wholesale selling off, selling out and undermining of the economy and infra-structure to corporate interests and illegal and unconstitutional trade agreements that forfeited our rights to regulate and legislate ourselves.

We saw our rights vanish, our freedom compromised and realized that we had willingly allowed the “War of Terror”, causing the greatest series of human rights violations by any supposed civilized society in recent history.

We endured eight years of corruption and un-American activity at the hands of people calling themselves Christian conservatives that was so wide spread, so destructive and unimaginable, many of us are still reeling form the sheer scope of it all. Then came the 2008 election, a new president and Democrat controlled congress; and a country so battered and beaten down reached out for what seemed to be a ray of hope.

Since 2006 Democrats have had a simple majority in both houses.  That didn’t mean they could do whatever they wanted, contrary to popular belief.  Even when the Democrats seemed to be trying to do something positive, the Republicans threatened a filibuster; 98 times to be exact halting everything in its tracks.

The 2008 election saw an increase in the numbers for the Democrats and with it more power to get things done.  And this bunch has been busy!  Immediately following the inauguration, a flurry of bills began appearing in both houses, and none of them were good news for America or her citizens.

Instead of acting to protect America, the Democrats have flooded the House and Senate with bills designed to increase government regulation and control; to expand and increase the powers of two dysfunctional and mismanaged agencies, the FDA and USDA, to end the right to family and independent farming and ranching, to subject the citizens of the sovereign United States to trade agreements reducing the standards of production, harvest and processing of food, favoring industrialized corporately controlled factory farms.

We have witnessed the greatest theft of wealth from the people in our history, as Democrats led the charge to save predatory lenders, parasitic and corrupt corporations who had mismanaged their businesses to such a degree they were in reality, not salvageable.  While middle and working class people lost their jobs, their homes and virtually everything they had, not one CEO, not one executive, forfeited either their freedom or any assets.  Not one was made to contribute a dime to the economic mess they had created.  In fact, they all profited handsomely.

Not one Democrat has stood up to demand the rights that were ripped away from us under the pretense of fighting terrorism, not one of the unconstitutional laws passed by those self-righteous fascists that called themselves Republicans, be repealed or restored.  In fact, the Democrats have picked up right where the Republicans left off and added a few more bricks in the wall.

From President Obama:

”Central to this plan will be a renewed commitment to honesty and transparency in government. Restoring our country’s economic health will only happen when ordinary citizens are given the opportunity to hold their representatives fully accountable for the decisions they make.”

Like this is ever going to happen.  We have a government that is not only detached from the people, but holds them in contempt.  On any given day, our own congress breaks more laws, commits more crimes and acts criminally against the very people it swore to protect and defend, than any common criminal out here in the streets.

USDA: Corporate welfare at its worst…Shut it down!

2 Comments

I am a full-on advocate of shutting down permanently, not only the FDA, but also the USDA.  Neither of these two agencies operates with any intention of protecting the public safety of food, drugs or any other product dumped into our markets from around the world or from bio-pirates looking to make big bucks controlling production and food supplies.  Both agencies are symbolic of the corporate whoring that is eating away at the foundations of the country.

In what has to be one of the most morally reprehensible assaults on not only the U.S., but also on agricultural systems around the world, USDA in 2001, patented terminator seed technology as a co-owner and developer of seeds that “commit suicide”.  This means one crop and you’re done.

Think about this:  a world wide food shortage was looming in 2001, and the USDA helped to develop and patent seeds that produced sterile offspring so seeds could not be saved for a second crop.  They didn’t stop there either and were major promoters and enforcers of the use of terminator seeds especially in poor countries where food was already in short supply.

USDA is now instrumental in attempting to establish the National Animal Identification System.  With several bills in both houses of congress at this moment, multiple co-sponsors are hoping to cash in on the promotion and establishment of a system that is not only not needed, but will do to livestock what terminator seeds have done to the worlds food supplies.  The only thing deeper than the crap the Washington District of Criminals produces each day is the cash and perks rolling in to float their personal boats.

The USDA the FDA and multiple unconstitutional government agencies work hand in glove with what is supposed to be the people’s House and Senate.  Congress decides which corporate pirate they are enthralled with, which is going to provide the biggest long term dividends to them personally, allows lobbyists unfettered access to congress and then proceeds to legislate against the very people it swore to protect and defend.  Agencies such as USDA and FDA then step in as enforcers making up rules (laws) as they go along generating huge profits for them selves.

What part of this do you not get?

The USDA and FDA have outlived any useful function and in fact have become agencies that exist for no other purpose than to promote and protect bio-pirates and corporate parasites of all stripes.  These agencies do NOT guard the American people’s food supply or make it safe.  This is not their function in today’s world.

Each and every state has its own version of FDA and USDA.  These agencies are far more likely to implement protective, cost effective measures that would protect food safety.  And, these agencies are local, relatively speaking, and accountability would not be demanded from some far away, secretive and corrupt federal bureaucracy that has long since decided to throw in with those who would harm us for profit.

Ending the existence of just these two agencies and reserving the right of the states to determine for them selves what is safe and what will be allowed to be dumped into our food supply could protect far more of us than the “For Sale” congress we have at the federal level.

The USDA and FDA represent federal tyranny and a threat to those who want the right to choose what they eat, and where it comes from.  As neither any longer, and have not for many years, worked on behalf of the American public, I see no need to continue funding the inefficiency, the mismanagement, the corruption of these two corporate whores.  Think of the money and the lives that could be saved if these two agencies alone were dismantled and tossed to the trash pile where they belong.

The recent posting of two videos by Gary Rea concerning the use and effects of depleted uranium not only in the mideast, but also here at home in the US, elicited a viral response from a Lt.Col. [XXXX XXXXXX.  The Colonal did not mention his own lack of credibility or his own lack of any educational background in this area.  Research is producing nothing less than a concerted effort by [XXXXXX], utilizing other fired or retired military personal to attack blogs and sites reporting the deadly effects of depleted uranium.  [XXXXXX] is directly connected to a Pentagon program meant to disrupt any meaningful dialogue or information regarding the gassing not only of Iraqi’s and Afghani’s, but also US citizens here at home.

Maybe the Lt. Col. should view this video, then view his own morals and conscience.

This clip from a statement by Ms. Moret sums it up nicely…..

http://www.freestate.tv/2007/10/29/wall-street-czars-depopulating-the-world/

“Lt. Col. [XXXX XXXXXX] is operating under the direction of Dr. Michael Kilpatrick directly out of the Depleted Uranium office of the Pentagon. Dr. Kilpatrick uses retired officers to harrass civilians who are working around the world to stop depleted uranium weapons from being used. The fact that depleted uranium weaponry violates all international laws, war conventions, and agreements, meets the definition of WMD under US Federal Code, and violates US military law does not seem to matter to anyone in the Dept. of Defence, US government, Congress, or international judicial bodies which should stop it.

The University of California will forever be known as “the University that poisoned the world” because thats the where the nightmare of nuclear weapons started under the Manhattan Project. The University of California is nothing more than a weapons of mass destruction contractor to the secret society of Skull and Bones at Yale University, and to the international bankers who run the City of London. Its also known as the Brotherhood of Death.”

The USDA…An unelected bureaucracy gone wild.

Leave a comment

The USDA is an unelected bureaucracy which seems to have come to its own conclusions regarding the law and is busying itself with attempting to implement the illegal and unconstitutional National Animal Identification System.

Because the proposed system is blatantly unconstitutional and a direct assault on our right to own private property and to be free of encumbrance or interference from the government as long as our activity remains lawful and legal, I began wondering just how USDA and its globalist, corporate pandering, minions were intending to not only implement but to also enforce this illegal attack on private homes and businesses.

How does an agency of the federal government set about avoiding a conflict with the Constitution and its Bill of Rights, and implement a program that assaults and renders as useless those very same rights?

Please look at the list below and see if you can find any law, any proposed bill, or in fact any indication that we even have a congress that might have had a say in this.  These of course are not all the players and this list does not include the Frankenfood corporations like Monsanto and Syngenta among many others, but it should give you a clear picture of how the USDA intends to circumvent the Constitution and your rights to be left alone by government: to be secure in papers, person and effects.

  • International Animal Court Treaty
  • International Criminal Court
  • International property Code
  • International Standards.org
  • International Committee on Animal Standards
  • International Standards for Electric Identification of Animals
  • World Organization for Animal Health
  • International Phytosanitary Agreements
  • World Trade Organization

This is kind of like finding Waldo…..only the Waldo in this puzzle is congress and they are no where to be found.  No mention of US laws or the Constitution either.

Everyone of these organizations or treaty’s is directly tied to the World Trade Organization.

The World Trade Organization is tied to the World Bank

The World Bank is tied to the International Monetary Fund

All of these are subject to the International Criminal Court

And every treaty, organization, trade organization, bank, money handler, committee, standard and code is all tied to AGENDA 21 from the United Nations.

The USDA has neither the power nor the legitimacy to mandate or attempt to make mandatory any program or plan that is derived from international policies and agendas intended to usurp and replace Constitutional laws and protections and rights.  These international laws, codes and regulations are being utilized specifically because our laws would prohibit not only implementation, but enforcement.  Enforcement, by necessity requires lawful validation which could not be gained under US laws or the Constitution.

The recent Federal Register entry, January 13, 2009 citing the USDA’s claim that mandatory implementation will supersede and preempt any local or state laws that have been passed allowing NAIS registration to be only voluntary an dnow making it mandatory, is null on its face.

The USDA is nothing more than an agency and as such cannot lawfully make such a declaration.  The 10th and 14th Amendments gives states rights over those of the government.  In this case, this is only an agency of the government…..not Congress or the President.  And it is one of these two only, who can legislate or pass laws which must be attended by the population.  The USDA, no matter how grandiose their thinking, is neither of these bodies.

And, no matter what international plan or organization is hiding behind this infringement on our sovereignty, we as American citizens are bound by one set of laws originating from the Constitution.  If the USDA is so enamored with international organizations, holding them in higher regard than our own Constitution then please let me be the first to invite each and every one of them, including Colin Peterson (D) MN and Tom Harkin(D) IA, to take their leave.

I’ll help raise the money for tickets to anywhere you want to go…..as long as it is far, far away from the US.

No Constitutional Convention!

1 Comment

The move is on to conduct a Constitutional Convention.  This could allow the total shredding of the Constitution and could totally rescind any civil liberties we have remaining.  This Convention can be considered nothing less than the latest effort by the globalists in our government to end our Constitutional government.

In all of the documents and resources I have located, there is no indication as to what the Convention would be addressing. I find that odd.

Virginia Takes Con Con Stage

As I noted in this column a few weeks ago, proponents of assembling a new Constitutional Convention are a scant two states away from achieving that monstrous reality. (Please review my column on this subject at http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20081216.html )

From the full article:

“As I noted in my previous column on this subject, “If called, a modern Constitutional Convention could declare the U.S. Constitution to be null and void, and could completely rewrite the document. For example, former U.S.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger once declared, ‘There is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention.

The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda.'”

Since 32 states have already approved the new Con Con, only 2 more states are required for the enactment of this debacle.” (end snip)

The Best Congress

Money Can Buy

The US House of Representatives has voted to endorse a resolution backing Israel in its offensive in Gaza, in which at least 900 Palestinians have been killed.

The body passed Friday’s resolution “recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza” by 390 votes to five.

The measure also noted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza “is becoming more acute” but did not rebuke Israel.

Keith Ellison, the only Muslim member of US congress, was among the 22 members of the House who voted “present”, which means that they voted neither in favour or against the resolution.

“I cannot vote against this resolution because I believe every country in the world has the right to defend itself,” the Minnesota congressman said in a statement.

“At the same time I cannot vote for this resolution because it barely mentions the human suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza.”

Dennis Kucinich, a Democratic congressman for Ohio who voted against the bill said before the vote: “I’m hopeful that we do not support the inhumanity that has been repeatedly expressed by the Israeli army.”

“We must take a new direction in the Middle East, and that new direction must be mindful of the inhumane conditions in Gaza”.

US-Israel ties

Washington has been Israel’s closest ally since 1948, when Harry Truman, the former president, made the US the first country to recognize Israel.

The US has been repeatedly criticized by Arabs for its unstinting support of Israeli actions. The US frequently blocks United Nations resolutions critical of Israel and on Thursday abstained from a Security Council vote calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The House has passed similar measures in recent years by massive majorities.

In 2006, the House voted to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah for “unprovoked and reprehensible armed attacks against Israel” and supported Israel’s incursion into Lebanon.
In 2004, the body voted to support a statement by George Bush, the US president, that it was “unrealistic” to expect Israel to return completely to its pre-1967 borders.

The US senate had voted on Thursday to back its own resolution offering “unwavering commitment” to Israel.

That recognized “its right to act in self-defense to protect its citizens against acts of terrorism” and urged a ceasefire that would keep Palestinians from firing rockets at Israel.

Harry Reid, who leads the Democratic majority in the senate, said on Thursday following that vote: “Our resolution reflects the will of the state of Israel and the will of the American people.”

FAN Bulletin 1012: The Great Annual Fundraiser begins.

December 9,  2008

Dear Marti,

2008 has been a fantastic year for those fighting fluoridation around the world and with your help FAN will continue the momentum into 2009. Today we begin our fund-raising for next year’s important work. Please give as generously as you can to this.

Donate online or send a check. Making a secure, tax-deductible donation online is very easy and quick to do.  Simply click here.  However, we pay a commission on each donation for this excellent service, so if you wish to make sure we get every cent of your donation please send us a check made out to FAN and send to Paul Connett, 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617.

Here are some of the highlights from 2008:

• Nearly 1000 new professionals signed the Professionals’ Statement that calls for an end to fluoridation worldwide.  The total is now 1,994.  Italian and French translations of the Statement are online thanks to Stefano Montanari of Modena, Italy, and Jimmy Siles of Quebec City.

• Over 10,000 signers to Online Petition to Congress – for a total of over 16,700.

• 74 communities said no to fluoridation in 2008.  53 of these communities voted in referendums held on November 4th.

• 4 FAN videos in the new series Professional Perspectives (approx length 4-5 minutes each).  Interviews with

Bill Osmunson DDS, MPH:  Over 87,000 people have watched this powerful 5 minute video.
Dr. Vyvyan Howard, President, International Society of Doctors for the Environment, addresses fluoride’s adverse effect on the brain.
Brent Foster, JD, Conservation Chair for the Oregon Sierra Club, on fluoride’s effect on salmon.
— Risks to kidney patients with Kathy Thiessen, Phyllis Mullenix, and Paul Connett

• An exciting video compilation of statements from over a dozen professionals will be released at the end of December (see A special thank you gift below).

• FAN paid for the translation of 19 Chinese published studies on fluoride’s effect on the brain and IQ.  11 of these studies have been published in the journal Fluoride (April-June 2008 issue), with more in the works. There are now 23 studies from 4 countries which indicate an association between high fluoride intake and lowering of IQ in children.  Note: there is no adequate margin of safety to protect all children in a fluoridated community.

• FAN provided information to reporters, local officials, researchers, and the groups and individuals fighting fluoridation in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, UK, and the US.

• In August, FAN held its third Citizens’ Conference on Fluoride in Toronto.  It was an enormous success and generated a great deal of attention in the Canadian national media. By linking our conference with that of the International Society for Fluoride Research we armed our activists from several countries with some of the best science on this issue available.

• Following in the wake of the Toronto presentations on fluoride and the brain by Dr. Vyvyan Howard, the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment produced a statement opposing fluoridation in September. In 2009 we hope to get more national organizations to do likewise.

• FAN has worked this year to get a US Congressional hearing. It is too soon to give any details at this point.

• FAN continues to fight EPA’s outrageously unscientific and illegitimate approval of DOW’s use of sulfuryl fluoride as a food fumigant in mills, warehouses and processing plants (this will greatly increase fluoride exposure). We agreed to a mediation effort and have had two meetings with EPA officials.  Our efforts (along with the Environmental Working Group and Beyond Pesticides) have been greatly assisted by the availability of a pro bono lawyer. We might well be in court on this in 2009.

But we do need your financial help to keep ALL our battles raging. Compared to the giants we are fighting, who have multi-million dollar budgets of taxpayers’ money at their disposal, our budget requirements are relatively modest. Our estimated expenditures for 2008 to date are approximately $76,000.  This is so low because we only offer token salaries and we receive a great deal of pro bono support from many of our supporters.

So one way and another, we get a great deal out of a small budget.  Nevertheless each year we still have the task of raising that budget and we  realize with the current economic crisis that this year, this is going to be tougher than ever. So please give what you can.

Our goal: $80,000 by midnight EST on Dec 31, 2008.

Raised to date: $600.00

Donations are tax-deductible.
FAN is a project of the American Environmental Health Studies Project, which has 501(c)(3) non-profit status, so your donations are tax deductible. Make sure FAN gets some of your hard earned money not Uncle Sam!  If you can’t help us financially this year, we know many of you are helping us in many other ways in your local communities and we are grateful for all that you are doing for this important cause.

Donate online or send a check. Making a secure donation online is very easy and quick to do.  Simply click here.  However, we pay a commission on each donation for this excellent service, so if you wish to make sure we get every cent of your donation please send us a check made out to FAN and send to Paul Connett, 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617.

A special thank you gift. A brand new 28 minute DVD, consisting of a compilation of comments by over a dozen distinguished professionals explaining why they oppose fluoridation, has been produced by Kevin Hurley and edited by Michael Connett.  We believe that this video will be a tremendous help in convincing academics, doctors and local officials that fluoridation must be halted.  According to Michael, this will be FAN’s best video yet.  The DVD will be ready at the end of December and we will be sending it as a thank you gift to all those who donate over $100 to our 2009 fundraising campaign.

Meanwhile, please make as generous donation as you can afford.  And if your budget is very low please do not feel bad if you can’t help us financially this year as we know many of you are helping this fight in many other ways.

As we report back on the progress of this fundraising effort over the next few weeks we will attempt to summarize our many achievements and efforts in 2008 and reveal some of our plans for 2009.

Top Ten Reasons to Reject Dangerous ID (the so-called Real ID) Act of 2005

10 Comments

idcardk1

Excerpted from the article:

And the #1 Reason why the states should REJECT Dangerous ID is therefore…

1.The Dangerous ID Act makes your State Issued Driver’s License a National ID Card!
The Dangerous ID Act is a bad law passed under false pretenses. It was rejected three separate times by the U.S. Senate, and was only passed because it was buried in a larger bill containing disaster relief and funding for Iraq. The Senate didn’t want it, and the American people don’t want it either. But the majority leadership in Congress imposed it on us, and so now we have to fight to preserve our state’s and citizens’ constitutional rights by rejecting it.

2. Dangerous ID is Void on its face!
Because Congress has exceeded its lawful authority in attempting to place a mandate upon the states which it has no constitutional authority to mandate, and because it has passed a law without the constitutional power or authority to do so, the Dangerous ID Act, on its very face, is entirely VOID and of no effect. The Supreme Court has ruled that: “The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it. An unconstitutional law, in legal contemplation, is as inoperative as if it had never passed. Such a statute leaves the question that it purports to settle just as it would be had the statute not been enacted. Since an unconstitutional law is void, the general principles follow that it imposes no duties, confers no rights, creates no office, bestows no power or authority on anyone, affords no protection, and justifies no acts performed under it…A void act cannot be legally consistent with a valid one. An unconstitutional law cannot operate to supersede any existing valid law. Indeed, insofar as a statute runs counter to the fundamental law of the land, it is superseded thereby. No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.” 16th American Jurisprudence 2d Session 177 late 2nd, Section 25

In defense of us…things I would like to see happen, but won’t.

We have a new president which will hopefully mark a new day for America.  Unfortunately, we are still saddled with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid whose agendas seem far removed what the majority of American people want.

If I could be the person who could determine the first 100 days of this new presidency, these would be the first things I would make sure were done.

  • End the use of [and for other purposes] that ends the titling of each and every bill in both houses.  The use of this phrase signals the insertion of pork barrel spending costing taxpayers billions in deficit spending each year.  It also allows the insertion of non-related attachments to the legislation the bill is supposed to be about in order to pass laws that could not pass on their own, usually to our detriment.

  • Demand that each and every bill be read in full by the persons voting on it.  There is no excuse for any elected official to vote on a bill they have not even taken the time to read.  [1]

  • Repeal, rescind, strike down, nullify, wipe out and eradicate every Executive Order that has been issued with the express intent of expanding presidential powers beyond the scope of the Constitution, and used to limit, erase and obliterate civil liberties.

  • While our country slides further into recession and another 250,000 lost their jobs in October of 2008 bringing our total unemployment numbers to more than 3 million, enforce our immigration laws; penalize those companies that offshore jobs and end the massive trade deficit with China that is in part responsible for the state of our economy.  We need to re-establish our manufacturing base here at home using American workers.  A consumer based economy cannot survive, and was never meant to, especially when the consumers have no discretionary money to spend.

  • As a direct result of the created financial crisis, suspend all foreign aid except to the poorest countries.  Why we continue to send 8 billion plus, yearly to Israel when their economy is booming and they were somehow not affected by the global crisis, is beyond me.

  • Immediately suspend all the tax credits, tax subsidies and cash subsidies to oil companies.  The idea that these companies netted as much as 30 billion in 2007 and will see at least that much for this year while America struggles to stay afloat, is beyond me.

  • Remove Social Security funds from the general fund.  Secure these funds against raiding by the federal government.  Currently, there is 2.6 trillion in worthless I.O.U.’s  sitting in Social Security as a result of theft by the federal government.  Since this debt, created by stealing the retirement investments of American workers cannot be paid back (and in fact, there was never any intention to pay it back) the federal government now lists this debt by theft as an [unfunded liability];  which should explain the continual scrambling to try and “fix” the system before we find out just how much damage they have done.

  • Remove us from the United Nations and tell them to build their multi-billion dollar new complex somewhere else…..and to provide the bulk of the financing they are expecting us to provide.

  • Cut the bloated White House Staff that is costing taxpayers more than 32 million a year. [2]

  • Cut the bloated congressional staffs.

  • End the lobbyist faction.  Special interest groups and persons should be required to conduct all their efforts in front of the CSPAN camera’s.  That alone could end this nightmare that money creates for all of us, in the halls of congress.

  • Suspend all retirement payments to former members of congress and their spouses.  The millions spent each year for this largesse is more than we can afford, especially for people who most likely don’t need the money.  If those of us out here in no-man’s land have to tighten our belts and sacrifice, these people should be more than happy to contribute their fair share.

  • Begin the ending of the wars.

Seems like a lot doesn’t it?  The truth is, all of these things could be accomplished in a matter of days.  The fact is, nothing remotely similar to this will happen.  Congress will continue to operate as an entity with no obligation to the population.

What we can do is to remain vigilant, remain involved and continue to speak our minds where ever and when ever possible.  Our reticence and our apathy is what got us into the situation we find our selves in now.  This is not the time to revert back to old habits and feeling that with this new president, everything is fine……it isn’t.  Whatever your political leanings, now is the time to stand up and speak out.

President Bush on “stealing the people’s money’

1 Comment

President George Bush met with President Fernando Lugo of Paraguay at the White House today, October 27, 2008. The meeting was televised on CSPAN and was nothing short of boring and unimportant right up until Bush made a comment that almost made me choke.  In the middle of stuttering and stammering, in the middle of trying to sound as if he was remotely aware of anything coming out of his mouth, Mr. Bush actually said….

quote:

“There is nothing more discouraging than for a government of the people to steal their money”. George W. Bush 10-27-08 (end quote)

Say what???  He didn’t really say that, did he?  Yes he did!

How could this comment come out of the mouth of this man after the biggest theft of taxpayer’s funds ever to have occurred in the history of the United States in the form of the bailout of Wall Street crooks and thieves?

Discouraging?  I don’t think that term quite describes what the everyday American is feeling right at this moment.  Anger, immense frustration, thoroughly betrayed, disenfranchised, incredulous and for many of us…..dead broke might be better descriptions.

And stealing is exactly what Bush & Co. did.   Our congress voted against the massive public opposition to the bailout, then proceeded to hand Wall Street criminals what does amount to a blank check.  It wasn’t the blank check Bush had demanded, but close enough.

While corrupt CEO’s continue to walk away with more than 70 billion in stolen taxpayer funds, and AIG rips through 75 billion of the original 85 billion they were given before the big crisis, the middle class loses its retirement investments, have their homes foreclosed, lose their health insurance, lose their jobs, can’t get extended unemployment benefits, and are discounted totally by their elected representatives and senators.

Discouraged?  How about monumentally pissed off?  How about;   I can’t wait for you and your crooked administration to get out of town?  How about this….I hope every incumbent is voted out of office and that the new congress has enough sense and conscience to cut any retirement benefits payments, and health care payments, and benefits whatsoever you decided you were somehow entitled to while in office.

Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out…..

The real unfunded liability…..the federal government.

5 Comments

Most people are not aware that when the budget from the federal government is made public, what they are seeing is the [simplified budget]; otherwise known as the [cash] budget.  There are actually two budgets prepared:

  • The simplified budget is a trimmed up version of the budget using only selected sources of income, and selected liabilities and is presented publicly, giving a false picture of the financial state of our country.

Using the simplified budget causes a massive disparity in the actual representation of income into the treasury and conversely, a gross misrepresentation of liabilities.  The result is a skewed picture of the income vs. debt and expenditures and should never be used as the example for the actual state of affairs.  It is presented to the public with the intent of manipulating public opinion and creating false financial pictures.

The [unified budget] includes all income from all sources, and all debts of any kind, including:

  • the hidden costs of interest payments to the federal reserve,

(Absolutely every dime paid in individual taxes annually, goes to pay the service debt to the Federal Reserve, and cannot pay it in full)

  • the costs of the wars,
  • the service debt on all the money borrowed from other countries and private industries such as mega insurance companies.
  • Monies lost or disappeared through the use of undocumented entries into the books of various agencies, costing the country trillions each year.

[11 out of 15 federal agencies cannot balance their books without using unsupported documentation entries…meaning stuff they made up for which there is no evidence]

  • The cost of illegal alien residents paid by the federal government.
  • The cost of the FBI, CIA, and eleven other spy agencies for daily operations, surveillance of the population,
  • Special operations by the military which may violate international laws and treaties.

        (No one…is allowed to know how much money Black Ops gets, or what is done with it, except for a  few high level officials)

  • The cost of past military operations we are still paying for.
  • The two trillion + taken from Social Security and replaced with I.O.U.’s that are absolutely worthless but now listed as an [unfunded liability].

The unified budget also includes the expenses related to the day to day operation of the federal government including the bloated White House staff which is costing us millions each year. [1]   We are also paying for a fleet of private jets, maintenance and crews to fly the royalty in Washington DC around the country.  We are paying for limo service, personal services of all kinds, and overstaffing of personnel whose only function is to wait hand and foot on the politicians.

The unified budget includes all the surpluses from Social Security and any other program or agency which has operated efficiently enough to generate a surplus.  Also, unused authorized funds, taxes, fines, fees, sales of military equipment to countries said to be our enemies.

When presented with the [simplified budget] it appears as though social programs are eating away nearly 30% of the annual budget.  This slight of hand presentation is intentional.  It helps keep the socialism/communism fires stoked, and provides those who subscribe to this fear mongering with what they believe is a valid argument.

The site listed below has the actual chart prepared by the Congressional Budget Office for 2008 using the simplified cash budget, then goes on to show the true cost of all sectors of spending by the Federal government.

Going here, you’ll note in the chart Medicaid is lumped in with Medicare, inflating the actual costs of Medicare drastically.  [Other mandatory] is not explained, so we have no idea what that really is but likely includes totally non-related expenditures that needed to be attached somewhere.

http://www.warresisters.org/pages/piechart.htm [2]

Total Outlays (Federal Funds): $2,650 billion
MILITARY: 54% and $1,449 billion
NON-MILITARY: 46% and $1,210 billion

The fact is, the true unfunded liability is our federal government.  Another fact is, we cannot possibly produce enough taxable income to provide the funds necessary to even make a small dent in the snowballing debt generated by an out of control government.

Government as we now know it is a huge and growing liability, financially a burden to all of us.  Money is spent that we don’t have and in amounts so vast and incomprehensible to the ordinary person, it numbs the mind.

The week before the theft of taxpayer’s funds to bailout the elite and corrupt, congress approved another 600 billion in funding for the wars.  600 billion?  For wars we didn’t need to fight?  Then added what will amount to at least 2 trillion over the next five years to bailout Wall Street.  This in addition to an already admitted 10 trillion + in debt, although many claim it is most likely more than 70 trillion in actual debt.

To top it off, earlier this year congress voted itself another raise.  This while more than 1.4 million of us lost our homes, our jobs, our health care; everything we had.  This while another 460,000 lost their jobs just in September alone.

The only true unfunded liability we face is the federal government.

“The largest financial theft in American history”
Must Listen Interview  – – By Guns & Butter

Economist Dr. Michael Hudson on Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s “Plan” passed by Congress on October 3, 2008. We discuss what is being purchased, the congressional vote, what this means for the oligarchs, and what this means for the rest of us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a stunning interview that exposes the facts that the bailout will help no one but Wall Street fat cats, all friends of Henry Paulson.  The lies we were told about the bailout include the “screw the investors program”.
Congressman Robert Wexler  contact@wexlerforcongress.com
I saw it with my own eyes:  The Bush and GOP machine stole the 2000 election and the presidency in Florida (not to mention Ohio in 2004) and the results have been catastrophic for our nation and the world.
Don’t take my word for it – read the dissent of Supreme Court Justices Stevens, Breyer and Ginsberg in the absurd legal decision of Bush v. Gore: “Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this year’s Presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the Nation’s confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the rule of law.”
Back in 2000, in Florida, I witnessed the votes of World War II veterans thrown away and GOP thugs bully the Miami Dade elections office into stopping a recount.  I swore to myself that never again would the votes of Americans be thrown away and replaced by the votes of appointed judges. Following the 2000 election, I spent 7 years fighting to remove the DIEBOLD electronic machines from Florida and to install a voter verified paper trail which we accomplished last year.
I have bad news:  They are trying again to silence our votes.
Most people associate the 2000 election with paper “chads” and the Supreme Court’s tragic decision.  Yet the voter suppression in 2000 went way beyond not counting votes – from illegal roadblocks near minority precincts to the complete purging of legitimate voters from the rolls through what is called “voter caging “– the practice of using databases to improperly delete voters.
Now, we are seeing signs of voter caging again in both Michigan and Florida.
In Michigan, the state is using a list of foreclosures to purge voters (many of which are still legitimate voters in their districts).
In Florida, my home state, the Republican led Supervisor of Elections is aggressively applying a new law designed to limit voter fraud by summarily deleting voters who might have – as part of a clerical error – a different driver’s license or social security number than was put in the database.
If legitimate, legal voters are denied access to the voting booth – we risk a repeat of 2000, in multiple states.
We must remain vigilant, not just in defense of our economy, but in defense of our rights as Americans.
I am working with my colleagues in Congress to call attention to this matter, but I encourage you to contact your state elections supervisor and demand that they allow every person who claims to be a legitimate voter to submit a provisional ballot.
There is a system in every state to deal with provisional ballots – to verify their legitimacy after the fact.
Voter caging is a threat to our (already challenged) democratic principals.  Please join me and pass this email along to spread the word.
If you have not already signed up at www.wexlerforcongress.com, and would like to be on this list, please sign up today.
Sincerely,
Congressman Robert Wexler
Congressman intimidated into voting yes on bailout..BRASSCHECK TV/video
Leave a comment
Tuesday we reported that individual Congressmen were intimidated into voting “Yes” on the $700 billion Wall Street rip off.
(There are a lot of *other* things in that bill that are much worse than the money being stolen…
more on that later.)
Yesterday, Wednesday, we heard from a man whose career was based on arranging for massive loans to governments and institutions that couldn’t possibly pay them back in order to gain control over them.
He described his role as government-sponsored and corporate-employed economic “hitman.”
Today we hear from the former governor of Minnesota about how the CIA has its own permanent office in the governor’s office.
The corporate UNITED STATES
1 Comment
Should we have bailed out the few who don’t deserve it which will only help those same people?  Or, should we have bailed out the many; the people who drive the economy helping everyone from one end to the other?  Neither scenario is realistic, which may be why so many of us find ourselves stunned by the unconscionable lack of judgment in congress.
Do you wonder what might have happened if our congress had acted in our best interest rather than that of Wall Street?  What if that 850 billion they are borrowing, which is likely to balloon to trillions was instead equally distributed among all legal households in the US?
  • Most mortgages could have been paid off even those which are fraudulently inflated.
  • Every credit card in the country could have been paid off except those held by the upper 3% which have no limits.
  • Every car loan could have been paid and new vehicles purchased.
  • Every school loan could have been paid and education paid for in cash.
  • Nearly every medical bill could have been paid.
  • Social programs based on income would be virtually non-existent.
  • New businesses hiring new employees could be started.
  • Existing small businesses could have been expanded and a new manufacturing base could have been started here at home.
If congress and this president were so eager to stabilize the economy and believed they could borrow us out of debt…..why didn’t they spend it where it would have mattered?  Why didn’t they spend that money in a way that would have caused an immediate expansion of our economic base and benefited millions instead of just a few?
Here’s why:  In every situation listed above, it would have meant smaller government, less taxes, less unemployment, and expansion of the business base and less government intervention and intrusion into our lives.
We have been duped into thinking that for some reason we should be using credit and that this artificial number used to define us by credit reporting agencies is in some way significant.  It isn’t.  And the reason I know it isn’t is that our government is in the process of delivering a few trillion dollars to agencies and institutions whose credit ratings have to be in the toilet.  Your credit rating is simply a number generated by the same people who ran their businesses into the ground.  Do as our government did and just disregard it.
What we have witnessed in the last two weeks is the greatest redistribution of wealth…redistributed to those already obscenely wealthy… ever witnessed at one time in our history.  The corporation operating as the UNITED STATES government just came out of the closet and established itself not as a constitutional government of the people, but rather, as the corporate entity as it has been since 1871.
It is only going to go downhill from here.
Congress Has Betrayed Us Yet AGAIN!!
Hundreds of billions more in the last 2 years for a senseless military occupation, the FISA outrage, paralysis on impeachment or even enforcing subpoenas, and now a total surrender of the future of our treasury in an 850 billion dollar bailout of Wall Street fat cats. Congress has done worse than do nothing, they have done categorically the WRONG thing, and the whole rest of the world knows it, and THAT is why the stock market has been dropping like a rock ever since the Senate stampeded through this bailout monstrosity.
What Are We Going To Do About It?!
TV Spot Action Page:
http://www.usalone.com/cindy/bankers_bailout.php
And as if all this weren’t galling enough. How do you like how Bush came out in the Rose Garden after signing the “Fox In Charge Of The Hen House Bill” to basically say, “Thanks, chumps.”?
How dare they call themselves “Representatives”? How dare they! With their phones flooded a hundred to one shouting down this massive theft from the American taxpayer, with such an avalanche of emails coming the House email servers almost crashed, how dare they?! And guess what, the people were right. The hundreds of top economists pleading for sanity and a hearing were right.
Pelosi, the queen of the cave-ins must be defeated. There can be no honor in allowing her to remain in office. Shame on us if we don’t do everything we could have done to remove her. Then and only then can all the other things that need to be done to fix this disaster be implemented.
Global economy is a global disaster
Leave a comment
Global economy is a global disaster
As the information rolls in regarding the actual contents and costs of the bailout of Wall Street it becomes apparent that a global economy and deregulation, lack of oversight and greed just do not make for sound economic policy.  At some point, those claiming expertise in this area will be forced to admit, globalization is a recipe for global economic disaster.  Globalization of the economies of the world is nothing less than a global disaster.  It doesn’t work, it can’t work and the only people adversely affected are the middle class and the poor.  For those at the top its been a gold mine.
While many of us jumped on the neo-con bandwagon and threw our lot in with liars and thieves, others were not so impressed.  It would seem those who bought into this “get rich quick” scheme, were those who somehow thought a momentary spike in income and/or assets were an indication of greater riches to come.  These were the people who appeared at every opportunity, in any venue possible, proclaiming that free markets were going to be the end all, be all, of the economic world.  They were many times also the same people who exhibited an hysterical form of viciousness, an outright contempt and hatred of anyone who disagreed and who spent much of their time attacking and berating their perceived foes.  Their foes would be those people who dared to challenge their claims of globalization being the way to prosperity for all.
Those I knew personally who subscribed to this pseudo financial philosophy challenged me regularly with arguments that were so worn out from overuse I could barely stand it.  Always operating from the argument that if I didn’t support globalization and free markets I must be wanting the government to give everyone a handout.  I must be a commie, a socialist, a Democrat!!!  (I’m an Independent)
I was (and am) one of those people who thought the rich should pay a regressive tax, just like the rest of us do, and not be allowed loopholes, write-offs, hedges, deferments and other carefully crafted tax tools that exempted them from paying any taxes at all.  I also believe, if we have to see our Social Security investments raided to pay the costs of operating the federal government on a day to day basis just so the massive loss of revenues from the tax cuts to upper 3% aren’t realized, something is terribly wrong.
But this is where we are:
  • The rich are in line to get the greatest government handout in history.
You are going to finance this handout.
  • Wall Street fat cats will be dining on your money.
You will see your taxes go up regardless of who becomes president to make sure these same people can dine at the best restaurants via the handout.
  • No one involved in this crime of the century will be prosecuted and many will walk away with millions of investors and our tax money. This is fascism.
1.7 million homeowner’s go into foreclosure: they will be receiving no real help in the bailout.  That would be socialism.
  • Another 159,000 lose their jobs in September, 2008.
Virtually no CEO, or high level employee of these bankrupted financial institutions will, or have been, fired or otherwise penalized.
  • Investment retirement accounts were the first targets in the collapse.
Congress could have moved immediately to freeze those assets and make them temporarily secure from plunder.  They did nothing.
  • The same companies who now demand we finance them, forcibly, are many times the same who were involved in off shoring American jobs, closing American businesses and stashing their ill gotten gains in bogus off shore accounts to avoid any personal or business taxes.
The bailout bill includes increased IRS snooping on you and me to make sure WE aren’t hiding any income.
So….all you free market advocates who thought those of us who could see this storm coming were just trying to keep you from getting rich…..how do you feel today?
Your 401K is bust, your pension plan is broke, your house is worth only about 55% of your ARM, and its’ highly likely you could find yourself out of work, out of money and living in one of those tent cities cropping up all over the country.
Remember the good ol’ days?  Remember when America was the worlds’ leader in manufacturing and everyone bought from us?  Less than 10% of manufacturing remains and millions are out of work.  The trade deficit with China alone is killing us a container at a time.
While the job market dries up, free market promoters are still advocating an increase in H1B visa’s, and the border is still wide open with a big welcome sign on it.  In fact, we put border patrol agents in prison for attempting to secure that border.
When we all come to understand that free trade in a regulated and efficient market is not the same as a free-for-all for those who have no allegiance or loyalty to our country, those who put their money ahead of anything and everyone else we will have made progress.
As it is, our congress has officially declared a war against the people of the United States by virtue of voting in favor of financing the continuation of the same practices and people who are destroying us.  And to top it off……they’re going to make us pay for our own destruction.  Only in America!
The Bailout…..Lipstick on a pig!
The Senate’s 74-25 vote for Paulson’s Plunder came as no surprise, since the Senate is run by and for millionaires. So now it’s back to the House of Representatives, where we shocked those millionaires on Monday by defeating their bailout bill by 228-205.
A terrified army of corporate lobbyists is working around the clock to switch 13 votes, but only 7 have switched so far – Jim Ramstad (R-MN), John Shadegg (R-AZ), Zach Wamp (R-TN), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Shelley Berkley (D-NV), Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) and John Lewis (D- GA). Other possible switches include Pat Tiberi (R-OH), Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), John Yarmouth (D-KY), Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Steve Rothman  (D-NJ), Lee Terry (R-NE), Jim Gerlach (R-PA), Tim Murphy (R-PA), Jason Altmire (D-PA), and Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ). But others may switch from Yes to No, including Ed Markey (D-MA), Charlie Melancon (D-LA), and Spencer Bachus (R-AL).
Bush’s first Treasury Secretary, Paul O’Neill, called Paulson’s plan “crazy” and “lunacy” with potentially “awful” consequences for the world’s largest economy. Many of the best economists agree with O’Neill. Paulson’s strongest supporters – including panicked CNBC hosts – now admit it will not raise stock prices or boost the economy as it falls into recession. Then why on earth should we give $700 $850 billion of our tax dollars to Wall Street??? Joe Lieberman gave away the real game when he told FOX ” it will be good for John McCain.”
With so much at stake, Congress should  stay in session for another week (or two) to pass a much better (and cheaper!) plan proposed by Pete DeFazio (D-OR). But Congress desperately wants to go home so Friday may be our last chance to stop this $850 billion disaster .
(1) Call your Representative today!
First check how your Representative voted on Monday (and note switches above):
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml
If (s)he voted NO, say “Thank you for helping stop the Bailout on Monday. Don’t betray us now by voting YES on Friday, or I will vote NO against you on Election Day.”
If (s)he voted YES, say “I’m outraged that you supported the Bailout on Monday, and I will remember on Election Day. If you want my vote on Election Day, you must vote NO on Friday.”
(2) Join or organize a street protest against the bailout:
(3) We’re also partnering with Progressive Democrats of America and USAction/TrueMajority to schedule local meetings with our Representatives to demand a Fair Deal for Main St . If you’d like to help,
The United States is still a British Colony (and you pay them taxes!)
Leave a comment
Note:
The civil constitution was simply a set of protections for the occupants of what was to become the collective United States, from the King of England. It has not been in effect since 1871.
In 1871 under the 41st congress, a new incorporation of the federal government, to reside in the territory of what is now known as “District of Columbia” was illegally implemented.
Since that date, every person in the states has been indexed as a “trust” of that corporation. (See two previous articles linked below)
The United States is still a British Colony
Excerpted from the page located at: http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/united_states_british_colony.htm
As further evidence, not that any is needed, a percentage of taxes that are paid are to enrich the king/queen of England. For those that study Title 26 you will recognize IMF, which means Individual Master File, all tax payers have one. To read one you have to be able to break their codes using file 6209, which is about 467 pages. On your IMF you will find a blocking series, which tells you what type of tax you are paying. You will probably find a 300-399 blocking series, which 6209 says is reserved. You then look up the BMF 300-399, which is the Business Master File in 6209. You would have seen prior to 1991, this was U.S.-U.K. Tax Claims, non-refile DLN. Meaning everyone is considered a business and involved in commerce and you are being held liable for a tax via a treaty between the U.S. and the U.K., payable to the U.K.. The form that is supposed to be used for this is form 8288, FIRPTA – Foreign Investment Real Property Tax Account, you won’t find many people using this form, just the 1040 form. The 8288 form can be found in the Law Enforcement Manual of the IRS, chapter 3. If you will check the OMB’s paper – Office of Management and Budget, in the Department of Treasury, List of Active Information Collections, Approved Under Paperwork Reduction Act, you will find this form under OMB number 1545-0902, which says U.S. withholding tax-return for dispositions by foreign persons of U.S. real property interests-statement of withholding on dispositions, by foreign persons, of U.S. Form #8288 #8288a.
These codes have since been changed to read as follows; IMF 300-309, Barred Assessment,
CP 55 generated valid for MFT-30, which is
the code for 1040 form.
IMF 310-399 reserved, the BMF 300-309 reads the same as IMF 300-309.
BMF 390-399 reads U.S./U.K. Tax Treaty Claims.
The long and short of it is nothing changed, the government just made it plainer,
the 1040 is the payment of a foreign tax to the
king/queen of England.
We have been in financial servitude since the Treaty of 1783.” (emphasis mine)
As usual, Coleman sides right in with the Bush administration and the neo-cons.  Here in Minnesota we are so hoping that someone offers him a job that he can’t refuse in one of these corporations he is so worried about.  Maybe they will…he could be their pet weasel.  Marti
Senator Coleman outlined his concerns about the crisis in his floor speech on Friday.  Text of the speech is available online:http://coleman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressReleases.Detail&PressRelease_id=a0e0874a-c78d-fa07-94e4-bac270f21855
STATEMENT FROM SENATOR NORM COLEMAN ON HOUSE VOTE OF FINANCIAL STABILIZATION PLAN
September 29th, 2008 – Washington, D.C. – “Failure to address the financial crisis is not an option. Capital is the lifeblood of our financial system, and today that system is in danger of a complete meltdown. This crisis touches each and every Minnesotan. Jobs, retirement savings, and access to credit are all at stake. We must try again – these are times that call for statesmanship, not partisanship. I remain hopeful that we can act on a bipartisan compromise that addresses the crisis while at the same time protecting taxpayers and holding Wall Street accountable. We are facing an unprecedented financial crisis, and all of us, Democrats and Republicans, Congress and the Administration, must find a way forward for Minnesota families and our economy. Now is the time for action and I am hopeful that we can come together and pass a package that will have real reform – no golden parachutes, no blank check, and above all, protect the American taxpayer. We must have real results that will stabilize our financial markets and return liquidity to the system.”
STATEMENT FROM SENATOR NORM COLEMAN ON THE PRESIDENT’S SPEECH ON THE ECONOMY
September 24th, 2008 – Washington, D.C. – “The challenges we face today are as serious as any I’ve faced in my 32 years of public service. Today, with our nation’s economic security on the line, we must put aside partisan politics and stick to the statesmanship and bipartisanship that we will need to weather this financial ‘perfect storm.’ Outright greed and mismanagement, coupled with an outdated financial regulatory system, have brought us to this point. Our obligation now, as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, is to come together and do the right thing, and to do it now. There will be no blank checks, no golden parachutes and no excessive executive compensation packages for Wall Street executives. The President has made it clear that this is a time of immense risk to our nation’s economic future, and we must rise to the challenge and meet it head on.”
Bailout to be attached to non-related legislation in the Senate
Leave a comment
Bailout to be attached to non-related legislation
As reported in mainstream media all evening, the Senate is preparing to attach the bailout legislation to some other piece of non-related drivel.  The Senate has announced that it will vote Wednesday evening to pass the bailout plan as an attachment to a non-related bill without waiting for the House to attempt to pass a revised bill.
This maneuver is the reason that all legislation ends its title with the phrase, “and for other purposes”.  This is a signal to you, to the body voting and to the government that non-related items such as earmarks, assaults on civil liberties and expansion of powers not granted in the constitution, are contained in the bill.
In this particular piece of theft by the government of the people’s wealth, the Senate will find a bill that most likely contains needed funding for some unrelated program, and will attach the bailout bill to it.
Congress as a whole is so detached from the people it claims to represent, it never occurred to them that all the threats and scenarios posited as possibilities if this bailout was not passed, would be taken with a grain of salt.  Washington has cried wolf so many times in these last years and many of us have come to realize that the wolf is hiding under our flag.
We have endured eight years of one created crisis after another under this administration and the neo-cons.  We have been told repeatedly that if we did not act swiftly and immediately…. untold horrors would befall us all.  And we went along with all of it only to find out that the horrors we would endure would emanate from our own government.
I feel as though the American people are being driven to revolt.  Maybe that is what they have been after all along.  Then this dolt in the Oval Office could declare a national emergency and martial law.
Get on those phones, faxes and emails.  Let your Senators know in no uncertain terms that you do not support the bailout, and demand that they represent the people and not the corporations that have corrupted their system.
I have no sympathy for these greedy, unethical and corrupt institutions…..even a dog knows better than to crap where it eats.
Marti
American taxpayers enraged as congress feigns deafness over bailout.
1 Comment
Here it is in a nutshell:
  • We can’t have universal healthcare because that would be socialism.  Better to let those who are not here illegally suffer, or maybe die, all for the sake of semantics.
The concept of insurance seems to have outlived its usefulness and its original purpose.  AIG was a perfect example of a supposed insurance company that was doing anything but providing the coverage it was selling.  Bad investments using premiums as capital, AIG manipulated its books, failed to file the required annual federal documents, and its taxes. Insurance as we know and think of it no longer exists and has not for ten years or so.  Insurance now means that these corporations can be assured that the premiums they have collected and mismanaged will continue to finance everything but claims.
  • We can’t help out the 1.7 million who have gone into foreclosure just this year…they should have known better, its their own faults…that would be socialism too.
Even that joker Paulson admitted that the securities used to back up loans, mortgages and investments were so complex that he could not fully understand them.  The sub-prime loans to consumers were just as complex and not fully understood by those selling them.  This is fascism.
  • We can’t extend unemployment benefits to those who lost employment due to off shoring of jobs and business closings, or due to the illegal hiring of illegal aliens.
The same companies and corporations now screaming that we have to bail them out were many of the same companies that closed businesses here and moved overseas for cheap labor.  Why don’t they go to those markets and banks and get their bailout?
  • We cannot regulate or perpetrate any kind of oversight over the conduct and ethics of free market capitalists as that would again be socialism.
Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota when interviewed CNN claimed that regulation and oversight would be, socialism.  No regulation and no oversight is fascism!  I like socialism better.
  • We can’t confiscate the unethically or illegally acquired wealth of those who manipulated the system and are now blackmailing the public into bailing them out.
The same people who bankrupted and profited from the markets that are now collapsing for some reason are not being required to anti-up.  In fact, many are walking away with millions in unearned severance bonuses and salaries.  AND!  Many of these same corrupt CEO’s are being considered for positions in managing the stolen billions confiscated from taxpayers.  This is FASCISM.
  • We can’t repeal the special tax cuts to the upper 3% who benefited directly from this manipulated “free market”.  That’s an unfair distribution of wealth.  It’s unfair for the wealthy to be taxed regressively as the middle and poor classes are. You guessed it…that’s socialism or even worse communism.
But, for some reason redistribution of wealth is of no concern when you take from the poor and middle class and use that money to finance the wealthy who even during this calamity are unwilling to contribute and who will forfeit nothing!  No one applies the term socialism to this redistribution.  And they shouldn’t.  The proper term is FASCISM!!
The same people who ran these businesses into the ground, their investors who condoned the practices that lead to this downfall, are unwilling to even talk about pooling their own collected resources and bailing themselves out.
These people have far more money than we do.  Why are they not being held accountable for shoring up their own disaster?
While American citizens have been enraged over this bailout, the pro-corporate, business as usual terms of the bailout, congress plugs its ears and pretends not to hear.  If ordinary people can look at this situation and see that not only is it not necessary, but totally unwarranted….what’s wrong with congress?
READ THE BILLS ACT (RTBA)
http://www.downsizedc.org/page/read_the_laws
excerpted from the site:
Part 1: What RTBA does and why
Most Congressmen are lawyers, and many others are businessmen. They know what “fiduciary responsibility” is. For Members of Congress, fiduciary responsibility means reading each word of every bill before they vote.
But Congress has not met this duty for a long time. Instead . . .
To this end we have created the “Read the Bills Act (RTBA).” RTBA requires that . . .
·                           Each bill, and every amendment, must be read in its entirety before a quorum in both the House and Senate.
·                           Every member of the House and Senate must sign a sworn affidavit, under penalty of perjury, that he or she has attentively either personally read, or heard read, the complete bill to be voted on.
·                           Every old law coming up for renewal under the sunset provisions must also be read according to the same rules that apply to new bills.
·                           Every bill to be voted on must be published on the Internet at least 7 days before a vote, and Congress must give public notice of the date when a vote will be held on that bill.
·                           Passage of a bill that does not abide by these provisions will render the measure null and void, and establish grounds for the law to be challenged in court.
·                           Congress cannot waive these requirements.
The effects of these provisions will be profound….
WW3 and Global Economic Depression
 http://www.opednews.com/articles/Ron-Paul–Iran-attack—nu-by-Kathryn-Smith-080709-493.html
by:  Kathryn Smith
Hello friends!
Sigh, and much worse. God this is such horrible news I hate to even break it. I am so sorry for any shock to your system or any dreadful feelings which come around this. But people must know, and we must act, with urgency too. In the article below, I have linked the movie showing Ron Paul’s testimony/whistle-blowing, plus drafted up an action plan which includes getting help from officials overseas to issue arrest warrants for Bush, Cheney and any member of Congress who votes “yes” for war funding based on lies. Please pass this on.
The plan so far is:Attack Iran with air missiles, despite knowledge that they halted their nuclear weapons program in 2003
Prevent any kind of retaliation by hitting them with nuclear weapons
Striking back with nuclear weapons in case Iran retaliates
Punishing other countries which support Iran
Ron Paul (in the video in this article) states his shock and dismay that members of Congress favor the plan, saying “if only we could nuke Iran. Nuke Iran, nuke Iran!” Ron Paul is concerned that such an attack will start WWIII and also create a global economic depression. Bad news.I suggest part of the action plan would be to write letters to the editor (college newsletter editors and local papers, if mainstream censors) disclosing our US Senator and Representative’s voting records to the public, then asking readers to vote any violators out of office. To also disclose those who vote favorably would be very important, to encourage/motivate them to keep going in the right direction while, especially, offering the masses hope. We as a nation are governed by depression: Hope is key to pro-activity.
I have more suggestions in the article linked below.
Please pass this on! Thank you for your help. We should all meet face-to-face with our Senators and Representatives and demand, not ask that they STOP the war funding. Remind them that we PAY them to implement the public will, not their unilateral wishes.
Because, dictatorships support the politicians and their agendas whereas democracies support those of the people.Thank you so much for your help. Article, video linked below.
While Congress Fiddles and Hums…….
Leave a comment
While congress fiddles and hums and comes up with ever more ways of wasting money and time, and taking away more of our constitutional protections, not one of those jackass’s has made any relevant effort to clamp down either on Wall Street or (god forbid!) the oil companies.  While American taxpayers get raped at the pump, the oil companies…..the corporate whores that they are….are raking in billions in profits while also availing themselves of unneeded and unnecessary tax credits and subsidies.  Congress, acting like a collection of submissive pimps, just can’t find the spine to slap them down.
While MSM sings the tale of woe about how those damned enviromentalists are the cause of high gas prices, and clueless right wing hacks sing the praises of globalism and free trade, American consumers whether left or right are paying the price.  Maybe at some future date when gas prices approach $5.00 per gallon, and food is unaffordable it will dawn on those remaining individuals out here that free trade amounts to a free ride for corporations and the wealthy.  For you and me, free trade is a one way ticket to economic hell.
I have to ask this:
With another 450,000 jobs lost just in June due to outsourcing, offshoring, business downsizing or closings……and rising gas and food prices along with almost every other item that affects our daily lives……do you still think that unregulated free trade is a good deal?  How many of us have to lose our homes, our jobs, our health coverage and everything WE have worked for before it occurs to us that this method of operation is killing us off?
Free trade has one objective; the economic destruction of virtually every economy in the world.  The current inflated price of oil, even as supplies have remained steady should have been the proverbial slap to the head for those who still cling to the idea that somehow, regulating trade to protect our economy and our future as a nation, is a bad idea.  How badly do you have to be squeezed before you can admit supply side economics is a national disaster?
Just today on MSM there were reports of test programs that allow people to “lock in” gas prices at the current level by paying in advance.  IF the prices go up which I can assure you they will, this could be a good deal.  If they go down…not so much.  Here’s the clinker in this which seemed to pass by the reporters altogether:  If gas prices can be locked in at a specific price……why can’t gas be capped at a certain price?  After all, if the oil companies can afford to allow advanced purchasing of gas at what might be a price lower than that at the pump…wouldn’t that indicate that all the price hikes are actually cases of price rigging?  And not necessarily due to whether or not they can drill in someplace other than the 68 million acres they already have access to, known to have deposits?
Its bad enough that there are still people out here who, even when faced with impending economic collapse of our country, still beat the free trader drum.  The incessant ramblings of paid political hacks who masquerade as “broadcasters” while pumping the public full of misinformation and propaganda seems to never end, most likely because they still find people gullible enough to buy into the false notion that free trade is benefiting anyone other than the elite.
Congress, while voting to fund the bailout of corrupt mortgage companies, voting to give immunity to telecoms and the Bush administration, voting time after time to pass amnesty against the wishes of the majority of Americans, voting to continue funding the war in Iraq, voting for anything and everything except protecting what is left of the middle class and taxpayers, doesn’t seem to realize that if we go down, we will have no use for them.  There won’t be a congress.  Frankly, I believe we have reached the point where congress has become such an enemy of the people that it should be done away with altogether.  It no longer functions as it was intended, and no longer represents the American people.
We have to realize that if we are to survive as a nation, as a viable economic force in the world, we cannot continue to allow corporate free trade pillaging of our country.  I hear so many disparage protectionism and it seems to me that if we do not engage in protectionism we will cease to exist as a nation.  At some point we have to circle the wagons and decide to protect ourselves.  We can’t allow trade deficits, or for multinational corporations to artificially create windfall profits because so many of us have been suckered into thinking that regulation is not conducive to capitalism.
With all the free trading that has gone on in the last seven years and the devastation it has brought nationwide including the growing recession, how can anyone still support this malignant line of thinking?  Think about that when you pull up to another gas pump and pay through the nose for enough gas to get you to work while subsidizing the oil cartels and while congress fiddles and hums.
First Steps in Reducing the Deficit and Bringing Down the High Cost Of Corrupt Government
Leave a comment
I get emails from people almost every day asking me how I think we could reduce the deficit, and in turn reduce the national debt.  I’ve thought about this alot and here is where I think we should start:
1.  End all C.O.L.A. raises for federal employees of any kind.  Put them on a merit system…..you don’t work efficiently and produce accordingly…….you don’t profit! Keep in mind that the Federal government is now the single largest employer in the U.S>
2.  End all Golden Fleece medical insurance programs for congress.  These people make enough each year to well afford to pay for their own insurance…….after all….they claim that people making minimum wage should be able to afford it.
3.  Reduce the massive and excessive White House Staff.
4.  End limo services, private planes and jets, and their maintenance costs including personnel costs.  Anyone who believes they are so important they must have these services obviously have the funds to afford them, themselves.
5.  End the retirement plan for congress.  There is no reason congress should be afforded retirement packages at taxpayer expense.  Again, they make enough to provide retirement for themselves. The idea that a representative or senator is still eligible for retirement payments even if they are charged with a crime or corruption is so incredible I can hardly stand it.  And why should their spouses be paid 2/3 of that amount just because they were married to them?  Can you imagine your employer paying your spouse a retirement payment just becasue you worked for them?  I thought not.
6.  End “Entertainment” expenses for congress.  No one pays for your entertainment, do they?  They can entertain in those offices we pay for.
7.  End corporate subsidies.
8.  Cut budgets to all Federal agenices by 10% off the top, and eliminate overstaffing.
9.  Discontinue the funding to the 11 Federal agencies that use unsupported (made up) documentation to cover the disappearance of funds.  Start with the Pentagon which has lost 2.7 trillion so far this year and doesn’t know where it went.
10. End congress’s ability to vote itself raises whenever it chooses to.  Make all raises subject to voter referendum.
These are my top ten.  I believe in starting at the top when trying to correct a problem.  The people at the top are the decision makers, the law givers, the political royalty who have come to think that the American people should afford them a lifestyle they firmly believe they are entitled to.  I don’t believe they are.
These ten items, if implemented could save the US taxpayer a billion or so each year.  It might also make those gods and goddesses in D.C. rethink their oaths of office and work a little harder for the American people rather than against them.
In all likelyhood, implementing these ideas would probably result in a mass exit from political office as one politician after another declared that he/she needed to spend more time with their families.  These would be the same families who are provided special accomodations in our capital so that they can visit with the “working” politician.  Does your employer provide accomodations for your family to visit you while you work?  I didn’t think so.
These are just my thoughts.  Let me know yours.
Why We Never, Ever Fix What’s Really Broken
Many of us sit in stunned silence as our congress makes one unconstitutional decision after another.  Some of us are so incensed at what is happening in our government that we can barely contain ourselves.  What we all appear to have in common is the constant wondering of why nothing ever gets fixed?  Why is the answer to everything always wrapped up in the flag but ends up being an assault not only on our senses, but more importantly on our rights and freedoms and our quality of life?
Immigration is such a great example.  We have law after law, after law concerning immigration, how it is to be handled and what is or is not to be tolerated.  For some reason our government not only seems unable and unwilling to enforce our laws, but also acts against the majority of the American public by endlessly trying to pass amnesty legislation, or to curtail the lawful ability of local law enforcement to curtail illegal immigration in lieu of a Federal response.  The U.S. Code which dictates who is to enforce these laws (the Attorney General) and also what that person is obligated to do to protect us from exactly this type of invasion is a perfect example of a political appointee, charged with a specific duty…..who isn’t doing his job and has no intentions of doing his job.  But he still has the job. Go figure!
Instead, Homeland Security, this monstrous collection of unregulated, uncontrollable bureaucracies appears to be usurping the AG.  Not that it matters, the AG isn’t doing his job anyway.  What congress should do is to impeach the AG for dereliction of duties, smack down Chertof and his band merry of thugs, and direct their attention to enforcement of the laws rather than trying to change them to suit their own personal interests.  The immigration system is not broken as we are told.  It is simply not enforced.  Lack of enforcement is not the same as “broken”.
Why are so many people unable to afford healthcare?  If you think the answer is in universal healthcare, you’re only partly right.  What congress should be doing here is regulating the pharmaceuticals and penalizing them for throwing lethal medications onto the market at grossly inflated prices while they have them manufactured in China.  China!! For god’s sake!  But instead of going after these companies and making them bring their prices down to a fair market value, congress passed a no-negotiation medicare bill that allows these same companies to charge exhorbitantly high prices. We also give them dollar for dollar tax credits for research and developement, allow them to infiltrate the FDA and finance their own product approval and congress even set up a taxpayer funded “Vaccine Liability Fund” so that big pharma can escape any liability for the deaths or diseases caused by their toxic concotions.
Congress should also be reigning in the insurance industry and mandating that they make good on the policies that they sell.  As it is, Insurance companies sell policies they have no intentions of honoring unless forced to.  Risk assessments, exclusions, black lists, are all used to sell policies that are worth virtually nothing.  Once the national DNA database is up and rolling, insurance will be able to access the PROMIS software used to merge data bases through paid for “backdoors” to illegally and secretly gain information about your DNA to determine if they will insure you or not.
(As it is, the military is now using this same back door to deny benefits to personnel who suffer injuries such as blood clots in the legs that results from the job they were doing,  claiming that they had the genetic tendency for the clots anyway…so they aren’t responsible.)
So what is congress doing about this?  Well, they didn’t even mention the parasitic nature of insurance companies, the breach of contract that results when they spend three times the amount of the claims in trying to deny them.  They didn’t discuss the exclusions, riders, risk assessments, or the surreptitious gathering of personal information about prospective clients.  Nope.  Instead they talk about “Universal Healthcare”.  What this means is that insurance, big pharma, and many in the medical industry will continue to rape the public while delivering fewer and fewer products and services while at the same time raising their prices.  It has become glaringly apparent that profits at the expense of human beings is to be guarded at all costs.
Here’s the point:  We can’t fix anything if we continue to allow everything to spiral out of control intentionally.  Instead of waiting until things are out of control and then coming up with some intended solution that only benefits those responsible, while simultaneoulsy penalizing those victimized by these economic parasites, nothing will ever improve.  You can’t fix anything by attacking the symptoms that result from an institutional problem.   That’s why nothing ever gets fixed regardless of what it is.  We never try to fix the CAUSE of the problem….we just wait until the problem is allowed to reach catastrophic proportions and then do the exact opposite of what needs to be done or what should have been done to avoid the problem altogether.
In the end, what we will get in each and every situation addressed by congress is not the logical and beneficial things that should happen, but rather, what those behind the scenes decided would benefit them.  And congress, like the sniveling, spineless cowards they have morphed into will go along with program.
What Else do You Need For Proof?
Leave a comment
Today, while warnings continue regarding the breaching of levee’s in at least 37 different locations along the Mississippi and affecting several states, congress took it upon itself to pass the FISA bill allowing the spy agencies to spy without warrant or reason on any American citizen.  I not only question the constitutional legality of this law, but also, the timing of its passage.
While the Midwest sinks under water and the agricultural heartland of the country is declared a national disaster, congress could only muster enough interest to pass yet another invasive and intrusive law guaranteed to give the federal government and all its spy agencies the right to declare a surveillance war on the people of the United States.  And like the compliant sheeple we have become, few of us will complain.  After all, we have to be tough on those terrorists.
The neo-con snarks that operate inside the beltway are declaring some kind of victory over grassroots movements who aggressively opposed the communistic FISA bill.  Obviously, some people are just so clueless that it never occurs to them that they will be spyed on too.  They don’t worry though, because they haven’t done anything wrong so they don’t mind having their privacy invaded or their rights erroded.  Personally, it is exactly because I haven’t done anything wrong that I do mind.
And while this victory dance by neo-cons continues, thousands of acres of grain crops are being washed away and people in those areas are scrambling to save what they can of personal possessions before the water takes even those and makes their homes uninhabitable.
Considering this nightmare and the coming impact on food supplies that will result…..wouldn’t you have thought that our congress would have been focused on the long term affects?  Maybe instead of passing legislation that is so Anti-American and giving the New World Order another open door to step through…….maybe they might have spent their time more affectively, more beneficially by trying to secure food that is going to be in short supply as a result of these floods?  But, no.  It is apparently far more important to pass legislation against America’s people than it is to prepare for a food shortage to make sure they can eat.
Maybe another line they could have pursued is why billions have been dumped into the Army Corps of Engineers over the years, and yet these levee’s are failing.  Our infrastructure is allowed to deteriorate to the point where privatization seems the only way out.  In order to make this appealing, the infrastructure must be allowed not only to deteriorate, but also to devolve into such a state of disrepair, to become such a threat to the survival of the population that people are begging for help and will take it from where ever it seems to be coming from.  This is especially effective when those begging to be helped are swimming past their homes.
Maybe instead of spending billions and billions on unwinnable wars of aggression, or subsidizing and crediting huge oil cartels for raping the American public, or giving tax cuts to people that are obscenely wealthy and who have no allegiance or loyalty to this country……maybe congress could have spent some time on figuring out how to shore up our infrastructure.  But doing that might have presented a future obstacle to selling off sovereign land and constructed infrastructure to foreign corporations and investors and private investors here at home.
So the Midwest floods and drowns and floats away along with future food sources and congress fiddles while the water rises.  If today in congress did not give you the proof you need that our government on almost all levels is dysfunctional and no longer concerned with those it is supposed to represent, I don’t know what will.
Congress has asked for 200 billion for flood damage costs.  How nice.  Another 200 billion on top of the 10 trillion we already have in national debt…….and where will this money be borrowed from?  And what will the government use as collateral on this new debt?  The land that is currently under water?
The floods are a national disaster for many reasons, but congress is also a national disaster that needs tending to.  These people have to go.  We need to implement term limits for all elected officials and appointee’s.  That would include the court appointee’s right up and through the Supremes.  No one in our government should be allowed to make a career out of politics.  It’s not conducive to good government.
My heart goes out to my neighbors and friends and family here in the Midwest who are losing everything in these floods.  I just think its unfortunate that the Potomac doesn’t do us all a favor and breach its banks.
American Freedom Campaign….Arrest Karl Rove
Leave a comment
Finally.
More than seven years too late, it appears as if a growing number of congresspersons are realizing that they are part of a co-equal branch of government.  After allowing their institution to be disrespected and at times ignored by the executive branch, top officials in Congress are finally expressing a willingness to use their full power under the Constitution to rein in an out-of-control administration.
The current target:  Karl Rove.
Rove has been asked by the House Judiciary Committee to testify about his involvement in the Justice Department’s prosecution and imprisonment of former Alabama Governor Don Siegleman.  As Rove has so far refused to testify voluntarily, members of Congress have started sending signals that they are prepared to go to the mattresses over this.
Yesterday, Rep. Robert Wexler sent out a strongly worded E-mail – pasted in full below – advocating the use of “inherent contempt” against Rove, which would allow the House Sergeant-of-Arms to forcibly bring Rove to the House to testify.
Also yesterday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers alluded to the use of inherent contempt.  “We’ll do what any self-respecting committee would do,” Conyers said. “We’d hold him in contempt. Either that or go and have him arrested.”
We need you to let your representative know that you support this forceful action.  If you agree that Congress should arrest Karl Rove, if necessary, and force him to testify before the House, please click on this link and send an E-mail to your representative immediately:
http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/2165/t/1027/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=24617
Once you have taken action, please forward this E-mail as widely as possible or use the tell-a-friend page on the American Freedom Campaign site to spread the word.
An E-mail from Rep. Robert Wexler, May 15, 2008:
Last night, I appeared on MSNBC’s Verdict with Dan Abrams to discuss Karl Rove’s outrageous refusal to appear before Congress regarding serious allegations that he used the US Justice Department to take down a prominent Democratic politician. It is alleged that Mr. Rove personally instigated the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegleman.  The case has been criticized by legal experts, and 52 former state attorney generals – both Republicans and Democrats – have criticized the case and called for an investigation.
If Rove refuses to testify voluntarily and ignores the subpoenas that will certainly be issued, he should be held in Inherent Contempt of the House of Representatives.
No American is above the law.  None of us should be able to ignore Congress without consequence.   If Mr. Rove ignores a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, then the House of Representatives should pass an Inherent Contempt citation and exercise our right to send the House Sergeant-of-Arms to gather Mr. Rove and bring him before Congress to testify.
I do not advocate this option lightly, but the reality is that Congress has few options left against an Administration that totally refuses to submit to any type of reasonable Congressional oversight.  Congress has both the right and obligation to investigate these matters.  Never before has an Executive so upset the checks and balances inherent in our Constitution.  If we back off or delay, we effectively forfeit the power of Congress to investigate the Executive branch
Rove is not the first White House official to ignore Congress.  We have seen a pattern of refusals based on laughable claims of executive privilege. First, White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten and former White House Counsel Harriet Miers ignored subpoenas on the investigation into the firing of US Attorney Generals for partisan political motives.
Their refusal to testify was unprecedented:  never before have executive officials totally refused to even show up before Congress.  Bolten and Miers are the highest officials ever held in contempt of Congress.  Unfortunately, Attorney General Mukasey – in a dereliction of duty – has refused to enforce the contempt decree and now Congress is suing them in District Court to demand compliance.  Then, the Vice President’s Chief of Staff, David Addington, refused to testify on the investigation into the Bush Administration’s ordering of torture.  Now, Rove continues this executive arrogance by also refusing to testify.
Enough is enough.  We have a Constitutional obligation to provide accountability to a White House that is trying to usurp the constitutional powers of Congress.
These are the very reasons why I have been pushing for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney.  The Bush Administration has been running roughshod over the Constitution for eight long years.  We should not allow the promise of a positive election be used as an excuse to ignore our duty to investigate crimes that weaken the very fabric of our Democracy.
I thank you again for your commitment to the causes that we hold so dear.
With warm regards,
Congressman Robert Wexler
What Do You Know…..about the Council on Foreign Relations and Trilateral Commission?
Leave a comment
What do you know about the Council On Foreign Relations or the Trilateral Commission? It would be prudent to know everything about them because they heavily influence United States governmental policies that are shaping our future and the lives we live.
Did you know that almost every top governmental position from the President, his cabinet and the appointed department heads down are members of one or both of these groups? Did you know that many people in Congress and leaders of industry are also members? Did you know that on the long list of major party candidates seeking the Presidency, every one of them except Ron Paul and Alan Keyes belong to these groups?
Are you now saying, so what?
Would you become concerned if you knew that these are private groups whose missions are not to follow and respect the US constitution, but to consolidate the United States with other nations? What better way to promote your agenda and shape events than to have people in key positions with the same mind set?
Agents of change have learned to be very patient but not to sway from their objectives. Think of it this way; you are hurrying through a busy day and stub your toe. You stop and tend to it because it is severe pain, but if your shoe is just a little tight and uncomfortable you put it out of your mind because other demands are more important. That’s how our lives are being changed, by individual incremental steps that pinch us a little but we learn to live with it.
Little planned pinches can and do result in large changes in the rules and laws we live under. Influence shapes the thinking and decisions from public schools to townships, to counties, to states and to federal levels.
Changes always seem noble. We see them as globalism, multiculturalism, diversity, sustained development, world heritage sites, etc. All are Socialist in nature and promote collectivist principles.
Wait a minute, doesn’t that mean that the three top contenders for President in the Democrat and Republican parties are Socialists?
If we look at their policies, it certainly does. Name issues they talk about that are constitutional. What happens when a candidate comes along and suggests we screen our policies on whether they are constitutional? They are ignored by the daily media and called kooks and extremists. Party leaders have a conniption fit, just like has been demonstrated at district conventions recently. We can only hope that equal opportunity for the exchange of ideas will be allowed at upcoming state and national conventions.
Both major party heads scream ” we must support and vote for the endorsed party candidate” or that “other” party will win. Just hold your nose and vote the party line. Well, rubbish. We are offered personalities, not qualified candidates. We are lured with promises of freebees. Positions on world issues are seldom discussed and we have learned that, when in office, there is no assurance candidates will follow campaign promises.
We must vote for candidates who believe in America, follow the US constitution and promote free enterprise and personal responsibility. It is these factors that have given us the quality of life we enjoy. If the major parties do not give us qualified candidates, find them elsewhere. That means each of us has a duty to learn all there is to know about those we vote for. Then demand honest voting. We can only be sure of our votes if they are paper votes, hand counted and supervised.
Aren’t you fed up with being manipulated by some elite group you have no control over?
Why Don’t We Just Buy the Oil…..and Get Rid of Congress?
Leave a comment
From my mathematical friend who is consumed with the real meaning of the numbers that are flung about by that collection of dregs that now parades as our Federal government, I received this small note this morning:
“quote”……
 How Much Is Too Much To Spend On a Preemptive War?
As of this third week in March 2008, the wars in the Mideast (Afghanistan and Iraq) have cost us $538.6 Billion.  That is $5,686 per U.S. family.
Let’s see if we can wrap our minds around the numbers.
·         $538.6 Billion dollars would buy ALL the fuel for ALL the commuters in Minnesota for 116 years and four months.  (At 12,000 miles per year, 20 mpg, $3.10 per gallon)
·         $538.6 Billion dollars would pay a year of premiums on a $955 per month health insurance policy for EVERY uninsured person in the United States.  (46,995,000 as of August, 2007)
·         At $250 Million per bridge, $538.6 Billion dollars would replace 2,154 bridges
·         $538.6 Billion dollars is a LOT of money.
My $5,686 could have been spent in many better ways.
At the risk of sounding naïve, why don’t we just buy the oil, instead of trying to control it?
Dan Martin (end quote..)
I agree Dan.  Why didn’t we just save our selves, our country and the world a lot of grief, and just pay for the oil we needed or wanted?  Why?  Because blasting other countries off the map, killing indigenous populations, manufacturing weaponry and making war a business was far more profitable on so many fronts.
Think what we have accomplished by attacking non-threatening countries that had something we coveted.  Just look at the “freedom” we brought to Afghanistan and Iraq!  Look at these burgeoning democracies that have governments we hand picked to make sure things were done our way to benefit the elite.   We have many things to be thankful for in this massive genocide for oil and thanks to the use of Depleted Uranium on the Iraqi’s, massive and horrendous birth defects are occurring at an alarming rate.  Not that it matters, those exposed to this radio-active gas are going to have a short life anyway, and that includes our military that was also exposed.
Thanks to Paul Bremer, Iraqi farmers can no longer even save seed for next years crops.  It’s illegal.
Thanks to the World Bank, an Iraqi national cannot be loaned money for a business start-up . . . only foreign investors allowed.”
Thanks to Halliburton and KBR and others like them, reconstruction has cost billions upon billions, most of which can’t be accounted for and nothing is getting built that would account for the massive amount of money American taxpayers have had to ante up.
Thanks to Cheney and the oil cartels, we are building a multi-billion dollar embassy in the middle of a pile of rubble we created.  This….while we keep destroying everything in sight and killing anything that moves.
Thanks to Blackwater and CACI, we now have roving gangs of hired killers that are not subject to any laws anywhere.
Thanks to these wars of aggression to benefit the greed of a few, we are faced with a staged collapse of our own economy. As Americans, we now own less than 18% of our own country while our infrastructure is sold off to foreign investors, home foreclosures skyrocket, and jobs are shipped to foreign countries.
Thanks to the phony War OF Terror, we have lost the writ of habeas corpus, due process, and the right to defend ourselves.  We can now be declared “domestic terrorists” for speaking out against the policies of corporate government.
Thanks to the failure of Homeland Security or the Attorney General, our borders remain wide open while we are colonized by people who not only do not respect us, but openly express their contempt for us; all to benefit the free movement of people and goods for the benefit of business under the S&PP and to facilitate the North American Union Merger.
Thanks to the phony War OF Terror, the president can now declare a national emergency even if he is the only one to perceive one (congress can’t review it for six months); and declare martial law, suspending the Constitution with its Bill of Rights and any upcoming elections, and effectively establish himself as king and dictator.
Thanks to the Civil Assistance Plan signed with Canada (also with Germany and Mexico and others) we can look forward to foreign militaries patrolling our streets, among other things.
And thanks to our do nothing congresses, nothing has been done or will be done to halt or stop any of this.  What this tells me is that they are part of the problem.  We already know they are math challenged and don’t understand that the money they blow is ours.  For some reason they have come to believe that the money they waste is theirs.  This siphon on the public monies is so addictive that these parasites on the public couldn’t even vote to stop their selves from “earmarking” funds for wasteful and stupid projects but they sure don’t have any problem passing an almost unanimous vote nine times in the last seven years giving their selves raises and perks.
Then there is that illegal immigration thing.  For some reason, Speaker Pelosi just can’t seem to understand that her constituents, and 78% of her countrymen oppose amnesty, increases in visa’s, and continuing to support to the tune of billions of dollars a year just to the Federal government (your tax money) people who broke our laws.  Ms. Pelosi now works behind the scenes trying to pass or include one anti-American amnesty plan or another.  This after Americans rose up in massive numbers in opposition to each and every form of the “Dream Act” that was put forward last year.  Billions of dollars that could have helped American families, created jobs, shored up our infrastructure or built that damn fence!  have gone to pay the livelihood of people who are not even legal residents of this country.  Thank you so much, Princess Pelosi!
I have come to the conclusion that the best thing we could do at this point is to rid ourselves of congress.  This institution has become nothing but a siphon of taxpayer money and is totally useless in either defending or protecting the citizenry from what has become an evil empire or is conspiring with it to dismantle our country.  Dismantling the federal congress would allow states to individually decide what they will support or not.  My, but that would change the landscape of corporate government wouldn’t it?  If the senators and representatives were only on the state level and had to stay in-state and actually face the people they are trying to screw over, maybe then things would change.  I would be thankful for that.
Maybe we need to send Dan to Washington (he always has his super-duper calculator with him) and have him sit down and explain to these imbeciles that the math just doesn’t work.  Maybe we could all send each of our legislators a calculator and maybe provide them with a tutor or math translator (after all we’re paying for translators in public schools for kids who don’t speak English) to help them better understand that we are no longer willing to pay for private wars, illegal immigrants, or bridges to nowhere, and that we cannot afford to continue these devastating policies.
But, thanks to those who cling to the right vs. left paradigm, who think God loves us more than others, that gay people are demon possessed, who hate the Muslims because some money grubbing preacher said that God wanted us to hate them and kill them, who believe that killing people “over there” is not going to happen “over here” or that supporting candidates from either side who will only give us more of the same things we have been enduring…. thanks to those people, nothing is going to change.
In the end I have to repeat Dan’s question: “Why don’t we just buy the oil?”  Think of all the grief, the killing, destruction, hatred, bigotry, jobs, homes, businesses that would have been preserved.  Think of all the good that could have been done throughout our own country with 500 billion that has been squandered for war and to enable the destruction of our Republic.
Then ask yourself, why we didn’t just buy the oil?
