Canadians Fight Against Secure Flight

I write to strongly protest the proposed policy that requires Canadian airlines flying through U.S. airspace to hand over the personal data of  everyone aboard the plane even if the destination is not in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s “Secure Flight Program”

is opposed by the organization representing all Canadian airlines, the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC), as well as most Canadians who do not want their travel destinations, itineraries and personal information on record with U.S. spy agencies.

I demand that the Canadian government not turn over information about its air passengers to a foreign country.

Those who wish to be closely governed by U.S. authorities should move to the United States as soon as possible. Those who sell out the rights of Canadian citizens to foreign countries should be removed from office for failing to protect Canadian rights.

Chemtrails….

 ‘For all those activists who have been investigating and reporting on clandestine government operations around the world to manipulate our weather patterns, this news from Germany is groundbreaking.  

The TV news report states that “the military planes of the German Federal Army are manipulating our climate; this is what the weather researchers are presuming and their suspicions are confirmed … “We can state with a 97% certainty that we have on our hands chemical trails (chemtrails) comprised by fine dust containing polymers and metals, used to disrupt radar signals.”‘  

“This is their main purpose, but I was surprised that this artificial cloud was so wide-spread.  The radar images are stunning considering the needed tons of dispersed elements — although, the federal army claims that only small amounts of material were propagated. The military heads claim that the substances used are not harmful.”

 “In the United States of America there is protest after protest for many years now, against these military operations and now people are mobilizing in Germany as well.

For example: JOHANNES REMMEL of the Greens. “It’s obvious that enormous regions are being polluted with clandestine actions, but all of this has to be made public. The government must provide explanations to the unsuspecting population.” 

This is a very significant development in the battle to find out why our governments are spraying chemicals into our atmosphere, however it is only the tip of the iceberg. As far as researchers have been able to conclude, chemical spraying by our governments have been in full operation since mid-to-late 1990’s (possibly earlier).

FBI Seeking To Create 6 Billion Record Database Similar To Total Information Awareness

In the name of fighting terrorism, the FBI is seeking to create a massive new data-mining program which “bears a striking resemblance” to the Pentagon’s Total Information Awareness program:

The FBI is seeking $12 million for the [National Security Branch Analysis Center] in FY2008, which will include 90,000 square feet of office space and a total of 59 staff, including 23 contractors and five FBI agents. Documents predict the NSAC will include six billion records by FY2012. This amounts to 20 separate “records” for each man, woman and child in the United States. The “universe of subjects will expand exponentially” with the expanded role of the NSAC, the Justice Department documents assert.

SECURE FLIGHT/Invasion of your Rights

 The Electronic Privacy Information Center (“EPIC”) has submitted a series of comments concerning traveler screening systems undertaken by federal entities. Earlier this month, we urged DHS to curtail the revised Automated Targeting System (“ATS”), a federal screening system that creates secret, terrorist ratings on tens of millions of American citizens.3 

(Last year, EPIC led a coalition of 29 organizations and 16 privacyand technology experts that detailed significant privacy and security risk in ATS.4)  In February 2007, we explained that TSA’s “internal quality assurance procedures” were not working, and urged the agency to fully apply Privacy Act requirements of notice, access, and correction to the new traveler redress program called “TRIP” and its underlying watch list system.5 

In May 2006, we recommended that Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) substantially narrow the Privacy Act exemptions prior to the revision and expansion of the Global Enrollment System, a database full of individuals’ biometric and biographic data, which would be used to determine individual eligibility for the “Trusted Traveler”program.6  

In December 2005, EPIC detailed privacy and security flaws in the Registered Traveler program and recommended DHS suspend the passenger prescreening program.7 

II. WHAT IS SECURE FLIGHT?Under the Aviation and Transportation Security Act of 2002, the TransportationSecurity Administration was authorized to maintain watch lists of names of individualssuspected of posing “a risk of air piracy or terrorism or a threat to airline or passengersafety.”9 Documents obtained in 2002 by EPIC from TSA under the Freedom ofInformation Act established that the agency administers two lists: a “no fly” list and a“selectee” list.10 The airlines run passenger names against the watch lists.When a passenger checks in for a flight, he may be labeled a threat if his namematches an entry on one of the watch lists, even if he is not the person actually on the list.

Epic has compiled a pdf document that details the flaws and intrusions of Secure Flight.  Secure Flight is nothing more than data mining.  Under the guise of  Homeland Security, we have all become suspects by our own government.

 In response:   Montana Governor Urges REAL ID Rebellion.  

In a letter (pdf) to the governors of 17 states, Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer asked them to band together to reject the REAL ID national identification system.  “Today, I am asking you to join with me in resisting the DHS coercion to comply with the provisions of REAL ID,” Gov. Schweitzer wrote. “I would like us to speak with one, unified voice and demand the Congress step in and fix this mess.”  

On January 11, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff released the agency’s final regulations for REAL ID. The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from state governments, members of Congress, civil liberties advocates, and security experts (pdf). EPIC has called the scheme “a real danger to security and civil rights.”

An aircraft at Eglin AFB would be painted and numbered as an exact duplicate for a civil registered aircraft belonging to a CIA proprietary organization in the Miami area. At the designated time the duplicate would be substituted for the actual civil aircraft and would be loaded with selected passengers, all boarded under carefully prepared aliases. The actual aircraft would be converted to a drone.

The drone aircraft and the actual aircraft will be scheduled to allow a rendezvous south of Florida. From the rendezvous point the passenger-carrying aircraft will descend to minimum altitude and go directly into an auxiliary field at Eglin AFB where arrangements will have been made to evacuate the passengers and return the aircraft to its original status. The drone aircraft meanwhile will continue to fly the filed flight plan. When over Cuba the drone will be transmitting on the international distress frequency a “MAY DAY” message stating he is under attack by Cuban MIG aircraft. The transmission will be interrupted by destruction of the aircraft which will be triggered by radio signal.
