Create seeds which are genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) and patent them. Then convince farmers about their “safety” but also include the “greater harvest and more profit“ angle, even if some of it is untrue. But here is the rest of the story.

136078972_40b7e8eb82_m1There is an increasing demand for food worldwide, but presently there is a massive agenda by UC Davis, the EU and the UK to partner with biotech corporations in order to monopolize the food supply through unsafe patented seeds while replacing older hybrid and heirloom seeds that have been around for decades. And what happens if
corporations control the food supply with certain seeds that will only produce one plant and the seed from that plant will never produce another seed? The commercial or hobby farmer will either have to repurchase more seeds from those same suppliers again or they could purchase the older reproducing seeds as long as they are available.

But what if the good seeds which are non-GMO’s are banned by governments? Well, it is on the drawing board.

Big Agri, paired with the world ruling governments, are likened to oligarchies such as the European Union, and are already trying to make it illegal to grow, reproduce, or trade any vegetable seed or trees that has not been tested and approved by the government, more specifically the “EU Plant Variety Agency.” Yes, this is an outrageous agenda and the new law, if passed, basically puts the government in charge of all plants and seeds in Europe, and prevents home gardeners from growing their own plants from non-regulated seeds.” And if growers did break the rules, they will be considered criminals. Proposed Federal Rules Could Competitively Injure Small, Local and Organic Fresh Market Produce Growers

This can’t be right!  This is right out of HR 2749 the fake food safety bill…….and organic growers were supposedly NOT going to be affected. Oh! But wait!  This is the Codex Alimentarius Committees’ rules on food (also written into 2749) doing the advance work for the new food police.  Isn’t the Codex committee on plants and veggies meeting this very next week, right in our nations capital to finalize codifying Codex into US laws?  I swear those guys at the USDA……what a sense of humor.  They deserve an award!  I’ve got it!  Jackass Alert#3getimage!!  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

From the Madison County (central NY) Cornell Cooperative Extension Newsletter.  They just will not STOP until there is not a single small farm left!

USDA Schedules Public Hearings to Obtain Citizens’ Concerns and Suggestions

The “Leafy Green Marketing Agreement,” which requires producers to follow a set of rules (metrics) in the name of food safety, has already shown to be injurious for the environment, biodiversity, and organic growers in California.  The USDA is now considering a similar “Leafy Green Marketing Agreement” that would extend beyond California and Arizona to cover the entire United Stateslet’s help make this rule work for growers of all sizes!

The USDA has scheduled a series of hearing sessions, around the country, inviting you to this perfect opportunity to share your concerns and suggestions.

Make your voice heard!if you are able to attend, we urge you to speak on behalf of the organic and family-scale farming community.  (See below for locations and dates.)

High Quality and Organic Growers Competitively Disadvantaged

Producers’ experiences in California, where these metrics have been in place for several years, reveal what is at stake.  While food safety is a legitimate national concern, organic and small-scale farmers bear a disproportionate economic burden of these metrics.  Consider this:

Hugh Grant
Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
Monsanto Company
800 North Lindbergh Boulevard
St. Louis, MO-63167
(314) 694-1000

Dear Mr. Grant:

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the direction Monsanto Company has taken in the past decade with respect to sustainable agriculture and farmers’ rights. Right now we are at a critical crossroads in history, and I fear that Monsanto Company is not contributing to the nation’s welfare with a “profits over people” attitude.

Monsanto Company has embarked on a vicious campaign against family farmers in the North American heartland, as well as across the world. These hardworking farmers are the backbone of our nation’s food supply and national security. The current climate of insecurity has been exacerbated by your company’s policies of intimidation, lawsuits and defamation.

Monsanto’s legal actions against Percy Schmeiser, the Rodney Nelson family, and the Oakhurst Dairy for example, are deplorable attacks, and do not reflect your “Stake in the Ground” pledge to honesty and decency.

The North American farm sector is becoming a veritable wasteland. Monsanto’s Genetically Engineered crops have increased pesticide use, destroyed key export markets and threaten global food safety. Over 90% of American consumers want genetically engineered foods labeled, while 60% or more want GE-Free food for themselves and for their families.

Family farmers have the right to produce the safe, sustainable food without fear of intimidation and litigation. Consumers have the right to choose food that guarantees their families’ health and safety. I demand that Monsanto change course by adopting the following practices:

1. Stop intimidating small family farmers
2. Stop force-feeding untested and unlabeled genetically engineered foods on consumers
3. Stop using billions of dollars of taxpayers’ money to subsidize genetically engineered crops- cotton, soybeans, corn, and canola.
Sincerely,
