FAN Bulletin 1043: Big VICTORY in WA; a big THREAT in NJ

Feb 10, 2009

Big Victory in WASHINGTON STATE. In the last bulletin (circulated on Jan 20) we indicated that, with the election of a new county commissioner, Skagit County was poised to rescind the decision to fluoridate the county made two years ago. It happened today. Congratulations to all the citizens in the county who refused to give up on this despite the odds against them from their local newspaper and the powerful dental lobby. This gives us all hope.

Big Threat in NEW JERSEY. However, yesterday also brought very serious news from New Jersey. An Assembly bill set to introduce mandatory fluoridation in the state made it out of committee.

We are going to have to fight like merry hell to stop this going through. If you live in NJ please mobilize your friends and neighbors to email, and phone their state legislators. You can get the email addresses of the legislators at this website.

If you live outside NJ please let any one you know in the state that this is happening. If you have any good contacts please email Carol Kopf,  FAN’s state coordinator and media officer, with their contact details (email, phone etc).

We have already seen in Louisiana that the promoters know that they have to move fast and with stealth. Legislators are easily taken in by the spiel from the white coated brigade that this is the best thing since slice bread and that they should do this to help “poor kids.” They need to hear the other side of the story.

We can anticipate that the promoters have already seduced many newspaper editors in NJ and we can expect the same kind of ill-informed nonsense we have seen recently in newspapers from Plattsburg (my reply to their editorial was published on Feb 5), and Schenectady, NY and Skagit County, WA (my letter to the editorial board was neither acknowledged nor published).

For this and other battles, a terrific bit of ammunition came into our hands today. It is a letter from Dr. Hardy Limeback explaining why fluoridation should be halted. If nothing else please copy and paste this to any one you know, and to your legislators (at every level), who continue to think fluoridation is a good idea. You might even try to send this letter to President Obama so that he (or his staff) does (do) not fall victim to the superficial allure of fluoridation.

The total number of people signing the Professionals’ Statement calling for an end to fluoridation has risen to over 2100 and over 104,000 people have watched the Bill Osmunson 5 minute video.

Thank you for everything you continue to do to end this ridiculous practice.

Preparing us for another insider attack

We are the leader in the world in the production of biological terrorist weapons.  BioShield 1, and BioShield 2 are programs whose sole intent is to create, revive, mutate and expand existing and soon to be created lethal viruses, bacteria and other designer killer bugs, designed for the exclusive purpose of wiping out immense portions of the human population.  That anyone thinks our government is funding and designing lethal biological weapons only for use on some far away country, is naïve at best.  At its worst, it is a case of blissful ignorance.

Our government in tandem with military leaders, labs and willing genocidal scientific monsters, are preparing to assault not only foreign countries, but also our own with the new WMD: bacteria, viruses and plagues for which there is no known cure, or, if there is one, one that won’t be provided to anyone other than those selected as being worth saving.  Chances are, if you are reading this article you aren’t in that group.

On December 25, 2008, Chertoff of Homeland Security made this announcement to Faux News.

12/25/2008

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2008/12/25/report-terror-threats-target-economic-losses/ (Read full article here:)

“When determining threats, intelligence officials consider loss of life, economic and psychological consequences.

Intelligence officials also predict that in the next five years, terrorists will try to conduct a destructive biological attack. Officials are concerned about the possibility of infections to thousands of U.S. citizens, overwhelming regional health care systems. (emphasis mine)

There could also be dire economic impacts caused by workers’ illnesses and deaths. Officials are most concerned about biological agents stolen from labs or other storage facilities, such as anthrax.” (end excerpt)

This statement was nothing more than the beginning of the conditioning process needed to substantiate the conspiracy theory the government will put forward when this planned attack by those in government controlled labs launch their attack on US citizens.  By the time this attack actually takes place the majority of us will be fully convinced that some mad scientist in a cave in some far away place somehow had a computer that was so powerful that it could operate with no known internet system, but launched a bio attack none-the-less.  Few of us will be willing or able to identify the real culprit and will pass the story of the mad scientist as though it was scripture.

If there is an attack coming, Chertoff knows because he more than likely has first hand knowledge.   The US has a long and sordid history of testing biological agents on its own population.  In addition, physical experimentation is also a reality and seen as totally acceptable as long as the subject of the experiment is uninformed and/or is socially vulnerable, such as orphans, minorities or the mentally ill.

This is a link to one of the most comprehensive articles ever written on the subject of government experimentation and drugging of unsuspecting individuals.

http://www.naturalnews.com/019189.html                                                                                                        Excerpted from the full article:                                                                                                                          As you read through these science experiments, you’ll learn the stories of newborns injected with radioactive substances, mentally ill people placed in giant refrigerators, military personnel exposed to chemical weapons by the very government they served and mentally challenged children being purposely infected with hepatitis. These stories are facts, not fiction: Each account, no matter how horrifying, is backed up with a link or citation to a reputable source.” (end excerpt)

Maybe these horrendous things can be marginally justified when outcomes at times seem to benefit others.  For myself, this is not enough to justify the inhuman testing done on innocent people.  And, when you consider that the actual intent is not on curing or preventing disease, but rather, how to use disease as a beneficial government tool to eradicate population, that margin shrinks.

If the intent of science was to cure or prevent, why do we have government and university labs all across the country dedicated to creating designer diseases, viruses, bacteria?  Why are our communities and food production lands being covered in chemtrails and contaminated with genetically modified crops?  Why are vaccines administered to our baby’s that cause autism, seizures, mental retardation and sudden infant death?  Why are our water supplies contaminated with industrial grade fluoride, a waste product of radiation?  Why are our young girls being encouraged to get the Gardasil vaccine for the HPV virus that has no connection to cervical cancer?  Why are we being force fed genetically modified foods that cause organ damage, Morgellans and which alter our own human dna?

It won’t be some mad scientist in a cave plotting a biological attack on us or anyone else……it will be those in our own government labs armed with the most horrendous diseases and plagues ever devised and dying for the chance to try them out.

FAN Bulletin 1012: The Great Annual Fundraiser begins.

December 9,  2008

Dear Marti,

2008 has been a fantastic year for those fighting fluoridation around the world and with your help FAN will continue the momentum into 2009. Today we begin our fund-raising for next year’s important work. Please give as generously as you can to this.

Donate online or send a check. Making a secure, tax-deductible donation online is very easy and quick to do.  Simply click here.  However, we pay a commission on each donation for this excellent service, so if you wish to make sure we get every cent of your donation please send us a check made out to FAN and send to Paul Connett, 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617.

Here are some of the highlights from 2008:

• Nearly 1000 new professionals signed the Professionals’ Statement that calls for an end to fluoridation worldwide.  The total is now 1,994.  Italian and French translations of the Statement are online thanks to Stefano Montanari of Modena, Italy, and Jimmy Siles of Quebec City.

• Over 10,000 signers to Online Petition to Congress – for a total of over 16,700.

• 74 communities said no to fluoridation in 2008.  53 of these communities voted in referendums held on November 4th.

• 4 FAN videos in the new series Professional Perspectives (approx length 4-5 minutes each).  Interviews with

Bill Osmunson DDS, MPH:  Over 87,000 people have watched this powerful 5 minute video.
Dr. Vyvyan Howard, President, International Society of Doctors for the Environment, addresses fluoride’s adverse effect on the brain.
Brent Foster, JD, Conservation Chair for the Oregon Sierra Club, on fluoride’s effect on salmon.
— Risks to kidney patients with Kathy Thiessen, Phyllis Mullenix, and Paul Connett

• An exciting video compilation of statements from over a dozen professionals will be released at the end of December (see A special thank you gift below).

• FAN paid for the translation of 19 Chinese published studies on fluoride’s effect on the brain and IQ.  11 of these studies have been published in the journal Fluoride (April-June 2008 issue), with more in the works. There are now 23 studies from 4 countries which indicate an association between high fluoride intake and lowering of IQ in children.  Note: there is no adequate margin of safety to protect all children in a fluoridated community.

• FAN provided information to reporters, local officials, researchers, and the groups and individuals fighting fluoridation in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, UK, and the US.

• In August, FAN held its third Citizens’ Conference on Fluoride in Toronto.  It was an enormous success and generated a great deal of attention in the Canadian national media. By linking our conference with that of the International Society for Fluoride Research we armed our activists from several countries with some of the best science on this issue available.

• Following in the wake of the Toronto presentations on fluoride and the brain by Dr. Vyvyan Howard, the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment produced a statement opposing fluoridation in September. In 2009 we hope to get more national organizations to do likewise.

• FAN has worked this year to get a US Congressional hearing. It is too soon to give any details at this point.

• FAN continues to fight EPA’s outrageously unscientific and illegitimate approval of DOW’s use of sulfuryl fluoride as a food fumigant in mills, warehouses and processing plants (this will greatly increase fluoride exposure). We agreed to a mediation effort and have had two meetings with EPA officials.  Our efforts (along with the Environmental Working Group and Beyond Pesticides) have been greatly assisted by the availability of a pro bono lawyer. We might well be in court on this in 2009.

But we do need your financial help to keep ALL our battles raging. Compared to the giants we are fighting, who have multi-million dollar budgets of taxpayers’ money at their disposal, our budget requirements are relatively modest. Our estimated expenditures for 2008 to date are approximately $76,000.  This is so low because we only offer token salaries and we receive a great deal of pro bono support from many of our supporters.

So one way and another, we get a great deal out of a small budget.  Nevertheless each year we still have the task of raising that budget and we  realize with the current economic crisis that this year, this is going to be tougher than ever. So please give what you can.

Our goal: $80,000 by midnight EST on Dec 31, 2008.

Raised to date: $600.00

Donations are tax-deductible.
FAN is a project of the American Environmental Health Studies Project, which has 501(c)(3) non-profit status, so your donations are tax deductible. Make sure FAN gets some of your hard earned money not Uncle Sam!  If you can’t help us financially this year, we know many of you are helping us in many other ways in your local communities and we are grateful for all that you are doing for this important cause.

Donate online or send a check. Making a secure donation online is very easy and quick to do.  Simply click here.  However, we pay a commission on each donation for this excellent service, so if you wish to make sure we get every cent of your donation please send us a check made out to FAN and send to Paul Connett, 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617.

A special thank you gift. A brand new 28 minute DVD, consisting of a compilation of comments by over a dozen distinguished professionals explaining why they oppose fluoridation, has been produced by Kevin Hurley and edited by Michael Connett.  We believe that this video will be a tremendous help in convincing academics, doctors and local officials that fluoridation must be halted.  According to Michael, this will be FAN’s best video yet.  The DVD will be ready at the end of December and we will be sending it as a thank you gift to all those who donate over $100 to our 2009 fundraising campaign.

Meanwhile, please make as generous donation as you can afford.  And if your budget is very low please do not feel bad if you can’t help us financially this year as we know many of you are helping this fight in many other ways.

As we report back on the progress of this fundraising effort over the next few weeks we will attempt to summarize our many achievements and efforts in 2008 and reveal some of our plans for 2009.

Fluoride News You Can Use Issue #1 (Courtesy of the Fluoride Action Network)

1) NEW VIDEO: An Environmental Professional Speaks Out on Fluoride

This week, the Fluoride Action Network (FAN) launched the latest video in its “Professional Perspectives” series on water fluoridation. The video is short (just 5 minutes) and features Brent Foster, an environmental attorney and State Conservation Chair of the Oregon Sierra Club. Foster explains why he went from being a onetime proponent of fluoridation to spearheading a successful statewide effort to defeat mandatory fluoridation in Oregon, and how he was able to get the support of the only doctor, dentist, and nurse in the Oregon legislature. The video can be viewed online at FAN’s homepage, or on YouTube.

2) Kidney Foundation Drops its Support of Fluoridation:

A new position paper from the National Kidney Foundation concludes that individuals with chronic kidney disease should be notified of the potential risk from exposure to fluorides. The document acknowledges gaping holes in research concerning kidney impacts from fluorides, and thus further undermines the myth that fluoridation has been proven safe for everyone. In addition to advising that kidney patients be notified of their vulnerability to fluoride, the Kidney Foundation officially withdrew from the American Dental Association’s list of organizations which support fluoridation. To read more about this development, and to watch a FAN video discussing the issue, click here.

3) List of Communities Rejecting Fluoridation Grows Larger

The number of communities rejecting fluoridation continues to grow. On April 1, Quebec City in Canada terminated its fluoridation program after 36 years, thus joining the ranks of other major Canadian cities – such as Montreal and Vancouver – which do not fluoridate their water. Another major victory occurred on the Isle of Man in Europe when the Health Ministry announced on June 12th that it was abandoning its attempt to fluoridate water after a government survey showed the public opposed to the plan. Other communities recently rejecting fluoridation include Dryden, Ontario; Littleton, Massachusetts; and Yarmouth, Massachusetts. In Dryden, voters rejected a fluoridation proposal by a 7-to-1 margin!

4) City that Gave Birth to Fluoridation is Having Second Thoughts

In 1945, Grand Rapids, Michigan became the first city to ever fluoridate its water.  Now, 63 years later, some city officials in this town are beginning to wonder whether they should join the growing tide of cities and towns rejecting fluoridation. As noted in an a June 23 article from the Chicago Tribune,

“the chemical widely credited with dramatically cutting cavities and promoting oral hygiene, is having its scientific credentials questioned in the city that literally swallowed it first… [T]he push here mirrors a spreading nationwide awareness and re-examination of the health impact of a wide variety of chemicals added to food, health-care products and water.”

5) TAKE ACTION: Help Save Louisiana from Fluoridation Mandate!

While the victories above are encouraging, proponents of fluoridation continue their relentless push to, quite literally, shove fluoride down people’s throats. Of particular concern are renewed attempts to pass mandatory fluoridation bills at the statewide level in the US. Sadly, in April, the legislature in Nebraska (with virtually no public input) passed one of these bills, thereby requiring every town with at least 1,000 residents to fluoridate their water. A similar bill has also just been quietly fast-tracked through the Louisiana legislature. We still have a chance, however, to prevent this tragedy from happening. FAN has set up an ONLINE message to Governor Jindal, urging him to veto the bill. Please take a moment to send this message today, and please ask your friends and family to do the same. To send the message, click here.

6) NEW FLYER: 1,700+ Health Professionals Call for End to Fluoridation

The Fluoride Action Network continues its ongoing effort to solicit the support of professionals from the medical, scientific, and environmental communities. Over the past year, over 1,750 professionals — including a Nobel Prize Laureate in Medicine, 3 panelists who wrote the groundbreaking National Research Council review “Fluoride in Drinking Water,” 3 scientists from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Headquarters Union, and hundreds of doctors, dentists, and researchers — have signed FAN’s Professionals’ Statement Calling for an End to Water Fluoridation. To help raise more awareness about this movement, and to help get additional signers, FAN has released a professional quality flyer containing the text of the full Statement. The flyer should prove a useful tool to enable local groups to demonstrate that there are solid science-based arguments against fluoridation. To download a copy, click here.

If you know of any professionals who might add their name to this list, please refer them to the online sign-up form at: http://professional.fluoridealert.org

7) Important Fluoride Conferences in Toronto, Canada, August 7-11

With over 30% of children in the United States and Canada now impacted by dental fluorosis, it is clear that millions of children are being over-exposed to fluoride.  In light of the health risks associated with excessive fluoride exposures, scientists and activists are converging in Toronto, Canada for TWO historic conferences.

The first conference (August 7-10), hosted by the International Society for Fluoride Research (ISFR), will examine fluoride’s impact on bone and brain health and feature presentations from some of the world’s leading scientists on fluoride toxicity. The second conference (August 10-11), hosted by the Fluoride Action Network, will address what citizens can do to stop water fluoridation in their own communities and regions.

Taken together, the back-to-back Conferences will allow people to

    • hear and digest the best science on fluoride’s dangers to human health.
    • meet in person some of the world’s leading fluoride researchers.
    • meet and strategize with citizens and scientists fighting fluoridation from Canada, US, Australia, and other countries.

To learn more and to register for these conferences, see: http://www.fluoridealert.org/conference2008/

Here’s to a fluoride-free future! Together we can make it happen.

NEW: Scientific Consensus Statement on Environmental Agents Associated with Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Fluoride is identified as a chemical of “significant concern.” The Statement is in pdf format and takes about a minute to download. It was released February 20, 2008 – see press release.

Did you know? flouride

* Almost all of western Europe has rejected water fluoridation.

* Fluoride’s primary ‘benefits’ are topical, not systemic. There is no need to swallow fluoride.

* Children are receiving too much fluoride today. There is a need to reduce, not increase, current exposures.

* A growing body of evidence indicates that water fluoridation is ineffective and unnecessary.

* The fluoride chemical added to water is an unprocessed, industrial waste-product from the pollution scrubbers of the phosphate fertilizer industry.

* Just as fluoride can damage cells in developing teeth, fluoride can damage cells in other organs as well.

* Two-thirds of US communities, when given the chance to vote, have voted against fluoridation. Over 70 US communities have rejected water fluoridation since 1999.
