Apparently there are so many smart people out there that I’m blessed by my ignorance. The whole “non-demand demands” of Occupy Wall Street (OWS) just confuses the heck out of me. I’m thinking “What do OWS folks stand for?”, but the best I can come up with before the Union Co-Op and Prezzie support group started was here. Let’s just take a look one-by-one:
Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending “Free trade” by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.
Awesome! Everyone will have more fiat money to purchase fiat imported goods which will in turn support Amerika! Oh. Not so much. Let’s move on to the next.
Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.
Rock me like the proverbial Hurricane! Get rid of all the Mayo Clinics, separate “Cancer Treatment Clinics”, and all those private insurers who will cover Americans if they like to parachute out of nuke-carrying airplanes while smoking a stogie.” Let’s just all participate in the socialized medicine that produces such mediocre results! In face of death – “average” rules!. (Oh – am I sounding all Obama like? Sorry)
Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.
This one I just adore. Screw the fact that if you live in NY your income level to survivability is 197% of living in deep woods Alabama, make everyone equal in Living Wage. Guaranteed. Now – uhm – who is gonna’ Regulate that?
Demand four: Free college education.
Seriously? Yeah Doggie! We don’t need no damn “for-profit” Higher Education. Let’s just all suck up to Public Education from kindergarten forward and be “equal” when we graduate! No “cum laude” nor “with Honors” program. I’m a’ thinking we should just do the “Sat” or “Un-Sat” program.
Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.
Yo’ Baby. Go Solendra! Administration lending until it hurts and/or fails! Screw the “productive workforce” – after all with the “free college” education process – who cares about Excellence. Lend my dough to the best .gov filler outer and let ‘er rip!
Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.
Spend more? See how effective it has been in the past?
Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America’s nuclear power plants.
Save the trees, re-distribute the water, save a baby whale for Jesus! Or we’ll send ELF after your dirty asses. Screw the fact that small farmers are attempting to provide “locavore” success – make them hug a burrowing owl – we’ll eat Micky D’s and spray with Monsanto’s Round Up.
Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.
This is pretty resonable. Yeah your junk might be artificial production from Denmark, but who the hell cares? Sounds a bit like “swinging” from the ’60’s, but if it works for Sonny and Cher’s git – ye-hah!
Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.
Yep. If you choose to travel to Zeta controlled Mexico – go for it! Oh. You mean the other way? ‘Kay. Why not?
Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.
Might want to address that one. Politician’s hate reality in the polls.
Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the “Books.” World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the “Books.” And I don’t mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.
Ha Ha. So you borrowed like crazy to go to “Haaaa-rrrr-vvv–arrrrd” to study “social justice” (see video here)? Why pay? Strike the debt, all animals are equal (except the ruling 99% of course) – pass up the fois gras won’t you George. Entire planet?
Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.
You mean the ones that downgraded the U.S. of course. They were surely mistaken! Our Fiat Currency will last until we run out of ink! Just ask the Bernanke!
Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.
These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.
Lloyd J Hart 508-687-9153
All this is just too much for my simple brain to process. I’ll just send it on over to “change the rules so the other party cannot fight me” Reid. I’ll ask him if he could compare and contrast the above “goals” with the following:
“Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Abolition of all right of inheritance.
Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for
agriculture.Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of the population over the country.
Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.”
Communist Manifesto anyone?
The OWS “collective” has begun to deny that they have any such goals. It’s the evil infiltrators to “their movement” that posted the above. They just want everyone to know how “special” they are and that 99% of the American Public are oppressed by the 1% “fat cats”.
Really? I’d say the 0.000001716% of the population in control are the issue. Now who are they? Washington D.C. elected officials.
Let’s use an example. President Obama received 1/3rd of his $86 Million second-quarter campaign financing from Wall Street “bundlers”. Being blunt I’d have to wonder why “Wall Street” and the “Fat Cats” are spending almost $29 Million toward “The One”. Isn’t he on the protesters side? Isn’t he for the “little folks”? Then why is money from the enemies coffers not being rejected?
It seems to me that this Day of Rage that morphed into Occupy Wall Street has more to do with Move On, ACORN and SEIU getting the First Idiot re-elected. After all, don’t forget who started the “collective” movement – Mr. Soros himself.
I’m reading everywhere on the Internet that Wade Rathke, co-founder of ACORN and SEIU, announced the Day of Rage on March 25, 2011. I don’t doubt that is true, but haven’t been able to find anything other than someone else quote him – nothing linking to the actual quote. The source for the information seems to come from Canada FreePress. Gulag Bound has connected George Soros to U.S. Day of Rage through The Ruckus Society on the U.S. Day of Rage website. The Ruckus Society receives funding from the Tides Foundation and George Soros’ Open Society Institute provides grants to Tides, including a mere $4.2 Million in 2008, the last year figures are available. Several paragraphs down you’ll find more on the hopes for a Robin Hood tax, and rewriting our U.S. Constitution, among other little Marxist dreams, including violence since “fiscal reform” probably won’t do the job.
The Movement is being funded and orchestrated by the very people who will benefit by the “uprising”. Mr. Soros is probably cackling in his private jet while headed off to pre-position his investments to financially screw the percentage of the American Public that he has not yet bled dry. With his policy in place, his non-electable Puppet in office, and the little people now supporting him – there is nothing to stop him but common sense.
Don’t forget what happened to the “little people” under the implementation of the Communist Manifesto. They were beaten, jailed, and starved to death by the very “Progressives” they placed in office. At least 100 million died under the Marxist regimes – approximately 94 million more than under Hitler.
Occupy Wall Street? I’m just too stupid to understand the whole process. Then again – maybe the protesters are as well.
(Update: Or maybe being paid to attend helps one make up their mind? Even when they cannot read the signs they are carrying?)

Ok, my internet ( at&t which worked wonderfully in Ark, is so shabby here in N.Fl.) that i have battled with them for months to get ‘what I pay for’ ( more corporate crapola, dial 1 for this, 2 for that and so on )
Anyhow, the true beginning of this ‘movement’ which is a very good name for it at this point, was started at a website named AmpedStatus. I was just there watching a video and remembered I had commented here about this, so thought I would come back, late at night, the only time I honestly have real DSL instead of glorified dial up… and give a beginning link for the author of the article.
http://ampedstatus.com/ I did not take the time to see if the article concerning the beginning of the grass roots , months before, started, but I am sure it is easily available there.
It really isn’t so much about who pays what in taxes.. it is about the fact that they get all these perks and actually get millions of dollars back !! I found a financial page from 2007 the other day that totally blew me away. These Corps have paid off the congress and the senate ( and the puppet S presidents for so long ) that we don’t have a govt for the People anymore, We have a govt for the Wallstreet Gangsters and the corporations.
http://activism101.ning.com/profiles/blogs/top-20-things-you-should-know
When I read that I was livid with anger.. they can kill , destroy, do whatever they want, throw the charges off, that is if they get something more than a fine, to another sub corp. , no doubt set up for such instances, and in 2 YRS.. they are completely washed from all crimes.
Wallstreet is a start.. We have to start somewhere. We can not take over the gov. impossible at this point. They have the bogus Patriot Act and DHS and Fema on their side.
Take a deep breath, think about this, and realize that you can only kill one bird in the bush at a time.. They system is so ingrained, so in control at this point, that full out upheavel or violence would indeed be it’s undoing.
patience folks… we will win this beginning fight.. then you take one more step forward, and then another. It is the only way we can beat it.. Otherwise they win.. and I leave my lovely country that I dearly love, but has been stained by the Greed of a few.
If you don’t mind the F word, here is the message tomoveon . org.. from OWS

I’m not going to read the posts above, I really haven’t the time today.
This is the very first time I have come to this forum and if I found an article that interested me, I read it and often agreed. I have commented on this before in my posts here. I am honestly very confused. I have been under the impression, given the voracity of your previous articles, that you research was sound…. it appears that is far from the case , you links are not even the real links to anyting OWS , other than the article about the DC jerk.
You do not have the right page to the proposed demands, which really have not been decided yet, as this is a democractic process. Even the page you site as the demand page is clearly stated at the top as NOT the page, and if you had looked much at all, the working draft, which ppl can vote on via internet , is easily found.
The General Assembly, that you can watch on livestream at gobs of sites, what do you think that is about? Would they be having those, if the Demands were already made back on 9/25 as you stated?
If one jerk in DC paid 10 hispanics for his own purpose, this means the whole effort is ‘bought’??? Of course not. And Soros? Give me a break, I know ppl at OccupyWallSt and OccupyBoston and they would not have anything to do with a Soros funded Op.
I would give you the page link for the OccupyWallSt ‘\message to Move on.org” but there is language some of your readers may not appreciate. I will guarantee you that they want no ‘Advice’ or anything else from Moveon. The Acorn issue is too absurd to even go into. Methinks for the very first time that you lean far right and only research far right, as if afraid you might get infected with a tough of so called progressivism or liberal ideas.
Groups with their own agenda will of course ‘join’ for a day or week-end as they get more attention than they would alone. Have you seen the letter to OWS from one of the originators of the Tea Party, who warned them of just how provocateurs ( some police/some not , others FBI, or not ) , gun toting misfits, shinheads, numberous Politicians, and , the last sraw, Koch_Industries managed to completely corrupt their ‘movement’? They have had, since that letter, an ongoing dialogue with those original ppl and some Tea party members have already joined the OWS op.
I do not tweet w/ my phone, heck, I only have a cell phone for emergency purposes, but I opened one when this whole thing started so that I could better get quick updates of any news on the ground. I check it 3 times a day and have hundreds of articles saved now. Just follow #OccupyWallSt and see what you may learn. 🙂 If this not so quick ole gal can do it, anyone can, I promise you. ;^)
In ending, you all have to admit that this country is in poor shape. Everywhere you look is corruption, Cororations own this country lock, stock, and barrel. You can only fight one demon at a time. Wall Street is the big cancer and staying focused on That One Objective, is paramount. The so called demands are basically grievances , which are stated daily by all the people there, or ppl who come only to visit as they have other committments, families, jobs, health issues, whatever, and they are modified often after much deliberation.
The one reason for this Operation is to make Wall Street accountable for how they have corrupted the nation, They fix the price of everything.. food, homes, gasoline, everything is now speculated and manipulated by Wall Street Gangsters. They are even back to advertising the mortgage scam purportrated on so many older retirees.. the get money from your equity scam !! They have no shame. Greed has no Shame.
We have to start somewhere folks, or we may as well move, because they want it all and they won’t stop untill they have it all.
Nuff said…..

The demonstrations are a good place to START. They build energy and momentum. Next step. Don’t waste too much valuable time and energy fighting “them”. Use it, instead to help and work with each other.
CO-OPS
http://www.go.coop/
We all have childhood memories of parents, teachers and others encouraging us to work together. A co-op is what “working together” looks like all grown up. From the outside, many co-ops look like any other business, since a co-op provides products and services like conventional businesses do. But it’s what goes on behind the scenes that makes it different.
A cooperative exists to serve its members, but what makes co-ops unique is that the members are also the owners. So, in addition to getting the products and services you need, you also have a say in the business decisions your cooperative makes.
Rather than rewarding outside investors with its profits, a co-op returns surplus revenue to its members in proportion to how much they use the co-op. This democratic approach to business results in a powerful economic force that benefits the co-op, its members and the communities it serves.

It is a good guess that all of the opposition is not coming from the outside. There is no honor among those thieves and they don’t even trust each other. You’ve probably all heard that saying, “Uneasy lies the head the wears the crown”.

They know what to do with violence. They DON’T know what to do with passive resistance. That’s why it is so powerful. This is where folks need to dig their heels in. Perhaps there should be demonstrations around the Federal Reserve.

With the growing uprising, regardless of the reasons, it is apparent the American public has had enough. The Patriot Acts will come in real handy here. What I think is unfortunate is this: IF this movement gets much larger, some trigger happy jerk in the government will give the order to mow a bunch of these people down just to set an example and this will be the catalyst for openly declaring martial law instead of doing it by stealth. There is already evidence of paid provacateurs infiltrating the protest groups in an effort to create a disturbance. They will only tolerate these protests for so long then someone will open fire just for the heck of it.
If the list of demands is genuinely from these protesters, I cannot agree with much of it. On the other hand, if we cannot wrench control of what was our government from corporate interests, we are dead in the water anyway. Just my thoughts. Marti

Marcellas – The “quote” was loudly amped until individuals began reading it and questioning the “common sense”. Then the 13 demands were “not valid”.
Do me a favor. Go to the OW forum and find the day that the demands were presented (hint: you’ll find it near the “dress code” of Khaki’s and pullover shirts). See the support that was expounded until – until – the demands were questioned.
“Them” who? Protesters, Government or the 1%.
Define the problem and the parties involved. Consider where the best adjustment can be made and move forward.
Thanks for opening the discussion.

Lynn……..You are not stupid….but maybe a little behind the ball on this one. The demands you listed were planted to make this look like some far left wing deal. These demands do not come from OW. I have been at two of these and the people there are of all political leanings…..if they have any left at all. This list was launched with the help of players at faux news. in fact this has that fat toad Rove all over it. These people just want the end to corporatism and what the Divine Miss M refers to as CRAPitalism.
hang in there dude. this is a good thing. its them or us and I would prefer, just this once……it was them. Seems only fair the upper class shoulder some of the burden rather than us working stiffs.
